Many people report about the downsides of multi-focal IOLs, their negative outcomes of their brand, side effects of the implants and/or surgeries, and frequently there's the additional "had I known about" such and such... My question: are you struggling at all with what happened and whether or not your surgeon was negligent in informing you of pros and cons, options, side effects, etc?
Should there really be any "had I known about this prior to surgery" issues at all?
Thanks for all opinions...

I will only say that I've learned 10x more about the +/- of the various lens options and risks from RonAKA than from my doctor.
Actually, no. Make that 20x 😃

Spot on, Randall. RonAKA and some of the other members here will give out more useful information to patients than most doctors will.

I owe everyone an update.
It took ~2 months (far, far longer than I had anticipated or was told), with several stressful days/nights, but now that my vision has settled I am happy with the choice I made, the Vivity lens.
Even with a refractive surprise of -0.75 (which I think it has moved closer to -0.5 these days) now that the blurriness is mostly gone I am getting close to what I was promised (and was expecting): workable vision for distance and intermediate and, surprise, pretty decent near vision.
The one thing I wish the surgeon had told me first and reinforced later is that in some (rare) cases it may take a couple of months or more for the eye/brain/etc to come together and deliver the expected results.
All I heard prior to my own surgery were stories of how quickly people were able to see perfectly—including my mother who had her IOL implanted 15 years ago (!) and now can read phonebook, watch TV, drive, without glasses.

Hi. I am one week post-surgery with the exact same results as you, RandallG. Unexpectedly, I have good up close vision with blurry intermediate and distant vision. Needless to say, this is the opposite of what I wanted and expected. I will see my doctor again in 2 days. I am very anxious about this because my untreated eye has better distance vision and I am supposed to get my second surgery next week! Did you end up with 2 Vivity lenses? Should I stop panicking? Other than the cataracts, my eyes are completely healthy. THoughts? Thanks.
