Eustatian Tube dilation - will my hearing come back gradually or will it’s be a sudden pop!

I was, last week, diagnosed with ETD having had, for the last 3 weeks a bad bout of flu and subsequent ear intection, I've lost much of my hearing in one of my ears, sounds have become very muffled. I'm finding it very difficult to deal with and incredibly disorientating....i have also suffered from Tinnitus for the past twenty or so years and since this happened, my tinnitus has become much louder, almost unbearable. The Dr has given me various things to do at least twice a day in order to help nudge open up the Eustachian tube and get rid of all the trapped fluid in my ear. What i would like to know is.....will the hearing come back gradually, a little at a time with all the effort of the various exercises i'm doing or will it just 'pop' back to normal in a flash as it usually does when one gets off an airplane....i keep expecting a great big pop and to instantly feel better but i suspect it doesn't work that way....would love to know others experiences as i'm feeling very disheartened by the whole thing. thank you in advance

Greetings, I have experienced good results of late and things are looking better. ETD is a tough condition and first suffered last winter, I was perplexed to say the least. I found doctor Alan Mandell on Yourube and started to sort this thing out.

I recommend browsing his channel, I just now viewed same.. I have used his therapies and that has got me by. Now I have found some other therapies. Please read my past threads I have shared on this blog.

ETD is a delicate situation, if you have congestion this is how I approached. I worked on easing the congestion through oral decongestants and watched to make sure infection is gone. I found using nasal sprays, sinus rinse solutions made things worse if congested. For the past year I have used various nasal rinse devices and used the techniques ala dr. Mandell and have kept the

etube open . This therapy worked but had to keep at it. A week ago I purchased two items:

Eustachi; Navage. My condition as gotten better (thank God) I would not recommend these devices for you at this point. I purchased these item with my own funds!

My condition has not been better.

I Theorize that the use of the Navage has freed/cleaned the etube and is staying open!

The Eustachi I use to exercise the etube.

Getting the etube to function is a process so keep at it and one

day it will open "pop" I once read that as we grow older the tissue of the etube loses functionality so we have to use therapies to keep it working. My ENT offered tubeoplasy

who knows maybe someday, right now not needed. Cheers!
