Euthanasia for fibromyalgia.

I have gotten to the stage where the only way I can think of endind my suffering is to go down the euthanasia route.

Only problem is I have no clue how to go about it. I'm in uk where it is illegal, I know its legal in Holland and Switzerland. Is it expensive? Can I be referred?

Honey, no matter how bad you feel death isnt the answer. You had a diagnosis 6 months ago, it took me a year to get the medication right and learn to cope from there, you need to give it more time and go back to your doctor for different meds until you find one that works!! You can also get counselling /CBT which I also had to do and thats really helpful when youre feeling so down. I guarantee that in a years time, maybe less, you'll be sat there thinking what a bad place you were in and how much better things have got. xxxxx

The problem I I used to abuse opiod based medication so the Dr or pain clinic wont prescribe anything stronger than codeine and now my g.p is even taking me off that now even though it helps, if only a very little bit.

As far is other alternatives. Pain clinic refused point blank when I suggested accupubture, reflexology or cbt despite this being a service that they are able to offer.

I waited 12 weeks for my pain clinic appointment. I have requested a second opinion so am now going to have to wait upto another 12 weeks.

its not all about the painkillers. I only take paracetamol, nothing stronger than that, i have found ( and i know a lot of sufferers agree) that reducing the stress reduces the pain so I was prescribed different stress-reducers/anti-depressants rather than trying to find a strong painkiller. This works for me. I dont understand why you would be refused CBT, maybe you need to question this, every practice has someone in charge and they should be willing to talk to you and explain, if not, put it in writing and copy in your local MP ( thats what MP's are paid to do, work on your behalf, also doctors). All this means more stress for you, when you are least able to cope, but it means you are taking positive steps towards a life that you can enjoy. Your doctor should be concerned that you are contemplating euthanasia and i would speak to him about that, maybe show him your post, and if this doesnt bring a few appointments forward, you really need to change your doctor. xx

Please Marc, don't be thinking like that. We, all on here are your friends. And we are all suffering the same..Yesterday I were in terrific pain, today a little better. I know I always say to my husband please kill me, so I can be released from the pain..But..what about your family, they I am sure would not be happy to hear you talking like this.. Take yourself out in the lovely sunshine for a walk if only for ten minutes, this will help to relieve the pain a little. Thats what I have just done.. Go and see a different doctor and get a second opinion, I have been on numerous meds that did not work and gave me awful side effects..I now take Paracetamol and Oramorph, it takes the edge off. I also use heat pads alot, and movement helps too. Can you join a gym? this would be good for you I am sure, and you will meet people to take your mind off the pain..Go on, get out in the lovely sunshine...ONE LIFE LIVE IT..Regards Annerazz

Hi Marc, I am new here, I do know how you feel but ending your life is not the answer, dont do that to your family

I am wondering if you have heard of Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN) people on LDN cannot take opioids so this iinexpensive drug maybe what you need. If you google  Low Dose Naltrexone heaps of information will come up.

I understand I cannot put up facebook links so you will need to find the facebook page called GOT ENDORPHINS. There is an offical web page called LDN Research Trust and a lot of credible sites with loads of information.

Please before you decide on euthanasia at least check out LDN. I am on OxyContin so cannot take LDN but my aim is to get off the OxtContin so I can try it. If you need to message me for the links to the pages please feel free to do so, I sincerly hope you get some relief from this pain

    Hi Marc

im not going to patronise you to say things aren't that bad or they'll get better, ( please don't take this as an attack on those lovely empathetic people who have as sometime this is what is needed) but clearly they are bad enough for you to think about Euthanasia , gladly this and not suicide which is a different approach. I too live in the UK and you're right we'd have to travel to Switzerland, there is a place I looked up called dignitas, I actually read everything on their site and changed my mind basically because I don't have the energy to die in this manner, which them made me realise I CAN COPE with this pain and fatigue. It is very very expensive over £50,000 is a long term commitment and that is once you've been accepted by several doctors, it's a hard process. Have a read and then see how you feel. Hope this helps. All the best.

Hi Mark, believe me, you are looking for the wrong answer.  The reason that I know is that I survived a self -induced death and was in a coma.  The worst part was that my 14 year old daughter found me with my heart stopped. I did not realize how selfesh I was Because of migrane  and lower back pain since I was 14. Finally Made It To a pain mgmt. doc and was given a patch called butrans.  i have to tellyou, it is a lifesaver. Please try to check something like this out and always remember that you are worth something to alot of people, even me, as i pray for everybody. God Andyour friends and family will guide you to your painless path.  best wishes, Sally
