Have any of you ever experienced Shingle-like symptoms with HSV2?

I was diagnosed with HSV2 about 8 months ago and had several outbreaks in the first 5 months. However in the past 3 months I've only had one outbreak but I recently began experiencing what I thought was a Shingle-like symptom of a slight pain or tenderness on my upper leg. My boyfriend who was also diagnosed at the same time I was has never had an outbreak but has experienced the tenderness or pain on his legs before. When it has occurred for him, he has taken Valacyclovir and it resolved the pain.

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a side effect of the HSV2? Or something else I should see my doctor about?

Yes. I get Hsv 2 above my knees like a small rash and I have it right now just near my elbow. Genital herpes on my skin ! It's a sneaky thing that mutates

I used to get it on my buttocks, but lately i've neeb getting a rash on my thigh. Will my daughter be ok? I've read that it doesn't shed from thick skin, just the membranes/genitals x

I first got it on my left buttock for a couple of years. Now I get a rash on my thighs which is aggravated by them rubbing together! I wonder if I also have it on my thighs then? I also get tiny blisters near my mouth, hardly noticeable.

It's so confusing as I thought this would just be a genital thing. For a couple of years I've been having sex with a regular partner as I thought it was just a rash on my buttocks. I am going to get a blood test from HSVA as I need to know whether I have just 2 or 1 aswell. The swab said 2.

Doctor told me that it's harder to pass on to others when it's on dry areas but just don't let the blisters burst and avoid contact with the sores . I also heard that thick skin doesn't shed and unless the other person has a cut or wound and touches the sore you will be fine. Been with my husband 10 years and he hasn't got it and I'm not exactly pedantic about

That's cheered me up! I've been so worried sick about infecting someone. I've even worn shorts during sex to stop any infection as I get it on my thighs. Shorts with a hole! Must try and keep a sense of humour about this as it can get me down so easily. It gets to the point where you look at others and presume they have no STIs and it makes me feel so insecure and sad. It's the stigma that makes it the worse thing x
