Ever Total relief ?

Ok so I'm almost over a bout of the thrush and bacterial vaganosis , I started using the steroid in June and have been fluctuating between feeling a bit better and very sore until I found out I had the thrush , I didn't even realise I had it until I got the curdly discharge , I must have had it since July or so ? Anyway I'm almost back to way I was before I started the steroid , my question is im totally off the steroid a week and a half now and the soreness is mild with mild burning feeling also , so how often should I use the steroid ? My doc says 2/wk because any more and I'm making myself more prone to thrush again , 2/ wk use of the steroid probably won't get rid of my burning so do I just set up with the mild burning and soreness and just keep to the steroid 2 per wk and just keep it at bay , is this how LS works ? Do you ever have total relief from mild symptoms or is There always a level of soreness to deal with ?

So sorry you're still having problems, but it takes time before you find the regime that suits you best.
Bear in mind that it's never a good idea to stop the steroid abruptly which I guess you already know. Twice weekly applications are usually normal long-term.
My dermatologist put me on Trimovate steroid cream which contains nystatin to stop thrush and a topical anti-biotic. It's not so strong as Dermovate which I found actually made me sore.
I also use a little estrogen cream every now and then which stops any fusing, use coconut cream, or A & D ointment after every toilet visit (also water spray when things are bad), and cut down coffee and alcohol which are acid.
I hope you find a good routine, because this horrible affliction seems to affect you psychologically as well as physically and on the bad days, it's so depressing!
But don't worry, you will find a way to keep it under control.
B

This is just my opinion based on experience and on the fact that most gps know next to nothing about LS ! Also based on the fact that LS is far more problematic and serious than thrush, let the LS be your priority I say.
What is the norm is that the steroid cream should be used daily for one month rubbing in for 90 seconds then every other day for another month. After that maintenance should be once or twice a week whichever works for you but should NEVER be stopped completely. If you have a flare up go back to the every day application etc.
You shouldn't have to put up with perpetual soreness if the steroid is working though I know there are some poor souls who nothing seems to work for.
If you get thrush a lot consider looking at your sugar intake and get your doc to check for diabetes If he hasn't already.
Hope this helps you

was wrongly diagnosed with thrush for over a year so had unbearable itching and sleepless nights and all i would be told to do was apply more and more Canesten, pessaries etc till i got a reaction to it too. I had the white patches but Dr didn't see anything past thrush! I'm sure if he had and i had been referred sooner i would not have had the skin fusion i have now. It's so depressing I agree. It DOES change your life. I've had great comfort from this forum though, knowing there are others who know EXACTLY how i feel.

I got so tired of the cycle of thrush and perineum tears in my twenties, so tired of grinning and bearing painful sex. My husband was angry all the time because I would avoid sex for weeks after having it and tearing. I was mostly celibate in that bad marriage for about eight years in my thirties, except to get pregnant twice. I had all sorts of great sex in my forties after my divorce. Probably LS improved once I got out of that tense relationship.
