evoke eye test results

well i am full of mixed emotions, i received a letter  today saying the test proved negative so now what. If they dont think i have ms what else could these symptoms be: numbness in legs , tingling in leg, severe pain in legs, like my legs are set on fire literally, extreme fatigue, sometimes im to weak to swallow or my tongue doesnt move in the back, my right eye ball hurts so bad it feels like it is going to explode sometimes it hurts to move it back and forth. if you have ideas what this could be i would love to hear from you

Evoked potentials tests are not the only MS diagnosis tool. MRI is the best test. You could pass evoked potential and still have MS. Your symptoms sound pretty debilitating although one MS sign is that they usually last for 2 weeks or so and then get better. I hope you get a diagnosis.

hi, i agree with the last post, i had the evoked potential test but 'failed' it. my MRI's and lumber puncture sample showed that i categorically DID have MS. god knows it'e not a good thing to have, but i remember what it was like to NOT know and it was worse.

i don't know where in the world you are, but if it's the UK, i'd recommend getting the money together, if poss. to see someone privately, for a thorough run through of the usual neuro exams. that's the only way i finally got to a diagnosis as a proper set of neuro checks takes longer than we get on the NHS. unfortunately, there are a lot of medics out there who couldn't tell the difference between MS and a ham sandwich! i hope you get to the bottom of 'it', whatever 'it' is, very soon.

i'm sorry you can't have a lumber puncture done, while they are a bit unpleasant, they're a very useful tool in the diagnosis (dx) of MS. if you don't mind me asking, what are the rods in your back made of?

i meant to say in my last post, it ISN'T standard for relapses to last 2 weeks, there's no rhyme or reason to relapses. they last for very different lengths of time. both accross all MSers and in each individual. the very different experiences of each person with MS contributes to the difficulty in getting a dx.

i definately recommend trying the MS society's site for info and support via the forum. it's not just for the already dx, it's for people who may have it. (go to the 'everyday living board though, the others can be too 'quiet').

thank you wendy for your reply, the rods i have no idea what they are made of . this latest dr. stated he couldnt do a lumbar puncture because of the rods. i go back march 25th and i am going to request him to do lumbar puncture i have had the misfortune of having these in the past and they are very unpleasant however if this is what will give me answers i will do it. again thank you for your replies most of my cycles dont last long just the first one i was dizzy for 3 months other symptoms were gone not long after only the dizziness. i will continue to push for answers.
