Evorel Conti - when will it start working? I'm desperate!

Posted , 2 users are following.

I have been having debilitating hot flushes for 3 years now (last period March 2015) and finally decided that I couldn't carry on, so went to my GP. He prescribed me Evorel Conti patches and I am now into the third week of taking them. I feel terrible! Is this normal?

The flushes have gone and I am so grateful to feel cold again, but I am very tearful and seem to spend most of my time feeling very angry, irritable and unhappy. It's like the worst kind of PMT. I'm willing to put up with it if these feelings will settle down. Or do I need to change to a different patch? Any help gratefully received!

    Hi Fordy,

I am not on any HRT but have educated myself about it as it was something I tried briefly years ago and am considering trying again.

From what I've read, progesterone can affect some women negatively insofar as it makes them more depressed, moody, weepy etc.

Possibly speak with the doctor and ask if there is another patch with less progesterone in it. Possibly google HRT patches and find out if there are any that have lower progesterone than the one you are currently taking. I know there are a multitude of ways around this HRT business. That may do the trick. Hopefully you will find one that works really well for you and keep us posted.

      Hi Kim,

Thanks. I felt so rough yesterday that I called the doctor. She said I probably have a virus! I will do some research and maybe try to see another doctor.

      Fordy,

Hopefully you will get answers and be able to find the right dosage. It is so hard living like this - feeling terrible all the time. You'd think it be an easier fix but I am amazed at just how difficult it is for so many of us to feel better. Keep us posted!
