Hi Sarah Iam 40 years old had same as you and try two different hrt tablets not the patch. The first ones made me feel down that I took at 7 weeks then I tried a different hrt tablet and my fingers did swell and body so I come off them. Now Iam on double antidepressants and take lots of herble tablets for my hot flushes and it's working. I did put on a stone in the 7 weeks of post op but then again I was sitting eating lots and I could not do nothing untill around about 12 weeks ans that was just light stuff. Iam about 18 weeks or more now post op and iv lost over 17 pounds. But I do have to diet to loose it. Hope this helps

Hi. I'm 40 and due to have same op as you soon. I've been told that it takes at least 2-3 months for your body to settle to hrt and not to keep swapping before giving it chance. Have no idea if this is actually true as I'm not there yet but it might be worth asking professional opinion about it. Hope you find a solution soon. I'm dreading weight gain being a side effect. sad

I no what your saying but I could not wait. I was so down I fell out with most of my family and wonted to end it all. So I just wonted something that would work fast. Iam taking on the self for my hot flushes but they are not working so that's why I was looking to going back on hrt. It's just my bones after I sit for long times I feel like all my bones have gone dead so I Defo need something more. Thanks for your comment and I wish you good look with your op xx

    Hi Sarah.

Interesting to read about hrt.I only came out of hospital yesterday but was told to start hrt straight away.I asked for patches as many friends told me that they had a better affect. The pharamist came to see me to advise me to go to my gp as they will be the best ones to sort it out. Can you go with no hrt at all or how long can you wait before you start? If i feel like i do now i don't need.Yes i get the hot flushes but that is normal for me especially at night with the warm nights at the moment.

    Take care

Hiya , I didn't start until I was about 9-10 weeks post op as my GP was unsure which one to start with . The patches go straight into your blood stream rather than tablet form as they have to be digested so the patches are more effective as I have been told. I am age 35 so the benefits of taken HRT out weigh the risk of not for example your bones etc . I also have been told IT can take up to 2 years for the full Benefit of HRT not sure if that's true or not . Am going to keep an eye on my weight and see how I go . Xxx
