Excessive Yawning and Constant Need to Breathe Deep
Posted , 480 users are following.
For the past few days, I've been yawning a lot, much more than average (once every few minutes I feel the need). If I'm not yawning I'm breathing in as deep as I can to get similar "satisfaction". Often I cannot get the "satisfaction" from these and so the urge grows and grows, meaning it can get quite uncomfortable. When I do manage it, the urge is back a few seconds later. This is whether I'm tired or not, almost all day.
I'm not particularly anxious about anything in particular, and get the same amount of sleep as before this started.
This also happened at some point within the past year which continued for a month or two if I remember correctly.
Does anyone have any idea what it is or how to make it a bit better?
Thanks.

Hey,
I have the same problem and have been trying to find a solution for over a year. It started when I was sick and fainted and now everyday I feel as if I can never get a full breath of air, and even when I do the urge reoccurs instantly. I have been to various doctors. They found I have slight asthma and prescribed an inhaler which shows that it's opening my lungs, but even after using the inhaler I feel the same sensation. I don't have anxiety or anxiety attacks so it's not that. Some days it's manageable and I don't notice too much, other days it's terrible. I don't know what to do, I just want to breathe normally. Hopefully you found a solution!

I get a full breath every 10 breaths or so.
It almost hurts and chest feels heavy.
I am thinking of going to the insta care.
I will try the massage and chiropractor
Let me know if there is anything else that helped
Thanks

Hey guys, i recently came across something that might have a positive impact on this problem we are having so i thought i would mention it here since alot people are looking here for answers.
Oke so i came across somebody that randomly said that people that suffer from this often have a short on MAGNESIUM. i tried taking magnesium supplements and it really helped with the chronic hyperventilation.
i don't say this is the solution but i do think it is a combination of breathing patterns, your posture and also MAGNESIUM. So try to take magnesium supplements or eat food that containt magnesium and see how it helps you. It sure cant do any harm so just try it out.
Also if you do not believe me just Google magnesium shortage in relation to hyperventilating.

I have suffered with this on and off for 35 years. Sometimes it is manageable, sometimes it is quite debilitating making me light headed and really makes my shoulders ache. It can make day to day living and even talking quite difficult and really gets me down when I am having a bad attack. It usually lasts around a month and I seem to have narrowed it down to Feb/ March when I get the worst symptoms which made me wonder if it is an allergy? I haven't had an attack for over 2 years until now and have it really bad again. I have just learnt to live with it and have to stop doing some of the things I love doing when it's too bad. I have tried breathing exercises, anxiety medication, exercise and yoga. Nothing seems to help. :-(

You're absolutely right, it is debilitating. I'm going on 16 years of this already and it's torture when it gets really bad. I'm 48 years old and I can't imagine another 20 years of this.

Months ago I found this thread. Sadly nothing on here helped me, but it did feel good to know that I wasn't alone with this odd symptom. I've dealt with this problem off and on for years. Seems to come and go, but sometimes staying longer than others. My symptom sounds much like yours in that I feel that I need a full breath, but when I breath in I do not get a satisfying full breath. But if I yawn and take a deep breath with the yawn I get a very satisfying breath. I actually stopped into an emergency room once years ago because I was having the problem and we were driving past the hospital. My wife insisted that I go in there. It ended up being sort of embarrassing, in that I am much of an athelete and my pulse was 41, blood pressure fine and they found nothing wrong with me. I think they thought I was joking.
So more recently I started eliminating things from my diet. It has taken a long time to narrow it down, but I think I might have found my problem and it may sound nutty. I think I am allergic to Chocolate (or something in chocolate). Google LiveStrong and chocolate allergy. You'll get a hit for an article on their website. I'm not sure I can post a link in this thread. In my testing I stopped eating it and after a few days the symptoms were gone. Then I waited more than a week and ate chocolate one morning. By evening I was having the problem. Took a few days for the symptoms to leave. Now no chocolate, no symptoms.
Other people on this thread may not be having a problem with chocolate, but I bet there is something in your diet that is causing this problem. There is so much crap in the food we now eat. Good luck in your search. And fingers crossed that I am truely having issues with Chocolate. I love it, but can live without eating it if this problem disappears.

Try Pepto bismol. I PROMISE it works. I've been dealing with this for YEARS. I read on here about pepto and tried it and was SHOCKED! It actually works. Gum, chocolate, and some other foods I never realized, cause heart burn. Just try it and see for yourself. Then maybe you won't have to live without chocolate😂
