Excessive Yawning and Constant Need to Breathe Deep
Posted , 480 users are following.
For the past few days, I've been yawning a lot, much more than average (once every few minutes I feel the need). If I'm not yawning I'm breathing in as deep as I can to get similar "satisfaction". Often I cannot get the "satisfaction" from these and so the urge grows and grows, meaning it can get quite uncomfortable. When I do manage it, the urge is back a few seconds later. This is whether I'm tired or not, almost all day.
I'm not particularly anxious about anything in particular, and get the same amount of sleep as before this started.
This also happened at some point within the past year which continued for a month or two if I remember correctly.
Does anyone have any idea what it is or how to make it a bit better?
Thanks.

I I completely understand where you're coming from. I don't know why, but the same thing happens to me with the emotional issues.

I've had this since August 26th last year... it all started right after I had worked out at the gym.
Been to the doctors many times and they've done a spirometry test, ECG twice, listened to my lungs, chest x-ray, CRP blood test, checked my oxygen saturation and so on.
All tests are normal... and they say it's anxiety causing it. The thing is that i don't even feel anxious, at least not mentally.
I've hand anxiety and panic attacks before, so I know how it feels. I don't get panic attacks anymore.
Are you guys also experiencing weird sensations in your chest/heart? like fluttering/palpitations?
I'm having a constant discomfort around the heart area of my chest and a feeling like I need those big deep breaths all the time, plus i don't always get satisfying yawns either.
I really just want this to end!!!

You say you were in gym and have constant discomfort in your chest area.
Are you sure its not just tight muscles between ribs nor "dislocated"/wrong positioned rib?
This was my cure:
Massage your ribs and sore areas with fingers or foam roll them. Streach pecks, sides and mostly your serratus anterior muscle .
If you cannot crack joint by your self go to see good chiro/osteopath.
Theres all kind of diaphragm release, streach excersizes in youtube. It is the cause of yawns. Your diaphragm cannot expand fully if chest/torso is tight

Well the discomfort is hard to describe, it feels like it's vibrating/fluttering around my heart area of the chest (on the inside).
I'm actually seeing a osteopath once every two months for this to see if it can help, haven't noticed any improvement yet.
I've gotten my ribcage stretched and cracked, my diaphragm massaged and different exercises to do at the gym.

I'm experiencing this too! I've been suffering from this for 6 months now. My chest and shoulders have really started hurting this past month. Likely due to how much I've been straining my body with all my sudden gasps for air.

You need to see good osteopath/chiropractor/masseur.
There is something bio mechanical struggles blocking your natural upper body movement that now causes these problems.
Tight pecs? Front fascia track is tight? Jammed ribs?

Thanks for your info. I was actually diagnosed with OPLL, growth of the spinal legiment and it almost cut off my spinal cord transmission. Had an major operation and it healed my limbs weakness problem and but not this. And this OPLL at one point made me forgot abt this breathing problem. Now I might go see a chiropractor to see this problem. Thanks and God bless

im in a very similar situation. bloated, unsatisfactory deep breathes, yawning daytime, this started about a month ago. i changed my diet to limit fatty foods. i feel a lot better when i dont eat fatty meals. i however had 2 events happen at night: i start to fall asleep and i jerk awake almost immediately. it almost feels like i was holding my breathe, i would call that apnea. i also clench my jaw at night. but havent had pain recently in my jaw.
doctor perscribed acid reflux medd for me. other people commenting on this thread have me thinking i should try the acid relfux meds to see if they help. ive had acid reflux in the past but not recently. all this struggling to yawn and breathe deeply makes me lightheaded.
i was pretty active. im afraid if i do cardio excercise, i might struggle to breathe. so i dont do much. i went biking about a week ago and didnt struggle at all. again which leads me to believe its not my heart or lungs.
it could be an acid reflux issue. hope ypu find out what the issue is. living like this is hell

Have you heard about myofascial lines? Its series of muscles and tissue connected like web.
Front side line goes from toes to neck through rib cage.
If this track is tight it causes many problems..just like you just listed. Biting when sleeping, reflux, breathing problems.. you name it.
It is good advice to stretch these fascias to exclude serious diseases.
Check youtube for instructions. "Stretching the Superficial Front Line".
Theres also deep front line and Front functional line

I have not had a problem working out, although you'd think it would be impossible. It seems unnoticeable when I'm exercising, and doesn't return for a while. Exercise definitely makes it improve. I notice my condition is mainly a reaction to something and not all the time, and it usually lasts a few days at least. If I take certain meds for asthma, like steroids, it lasts for months and it's severe. But, the older I get, the more my body reacts to things. And alcohol makes it worse, which is a bummer. It could be that I'm taking antihistamines right now, and the combination might not be good for me. I tried a sleep aid (Lunesta) because I injured my back, and the heart/breathing/startling feeling any time I fell asleep got so intense, it turned into anxiety. I don't suffer from anxiety normally so I don't want to take meds for that. I'd love to find a doctor who understands the anatomy and can offer solutions without prescribing more meds.
