Excessive Yawning and Constant Need to Breathe Deep

Posted , 480 users are following.

For the past few days, I've been yawning a lot, much more than average (once every few minutes I feel the need). If I'm not yawning I'm breathing in as deep as I can to get similar "satisfaction". Often I cannot get the "satisfaction" from these and so the urge grows and grows, meaning it can get quite uncomfortable. When I do manage it, the urge is back a few seconds later. This is whether I'm tired or not, almost all day.

I'm not particularly anxious about anything in particular, and get the same amount of sleep as before this started.

This also happened at some point within the past year which continued for a month or two if I remember correctly.

Does anyone have any idea what it is or how to make it a bit better?

Thanks.

OH MY GOD!!! Thank God I am not the only one this is happening to. The doctors keep telling me that there is nothing wrong with me and I've had crazy amounts of tests run on me. Thanks for the advice. I'm going on a week of experiencing this every single day and I am so freaking discouraged.

    Hello everyone!!

I have came back just to share my testimoney after posting this like hell-like feeling that I have experienced. I was yawning every 10 minutes to try to get the deep breath and i wasn't able to reach the satisfaction from it. I was having pain in my chest like a heart attack . This pain woke me up at night and again try to catch the deep breath when i woke up at night. I went to the Doctor ( I hate going to Doctors ) and I had no insurance so i had to self pay for my visit. He was gonna go bunch of tests on me , I said please don't i can't afford paying for those test. He end up giving me NABUMETONE 500MG. I took it only for 2 days and i didn't want to continue ( I hate everything that's related to pharmacy which means It means to practise sorcery or witchcraft from the greek word pharmakeia) do your own research . I beleive in God in His power of healing and if you don't believe then I pray whoever read this comment get his eyes open to the true knowledge of God ( Yahuah) . I was praying psalms and remembered when David prayed to Yahuah and said " Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow."  that word hyssop was stuck in my mind all day. I looked it up and I was amazed the benefit of it. I will let you search it for yourself and you will be amazed what is the first benefit of it. I ordered it both as herbs and pure essential oil. I made tea outta the Organic herbs and also defused the essential oil and breath it in ...I came back to testify that I AM HEALED and I thank my heavenly Father Yahuah. I truly can feel the suffering of each one of you who posted here because I have experienced it. I had never had it before in my life and the Dr. called it Costochondritis. It only lasted couple weeks and now am FREE from it. I pray that you would be healed in the name of my savior Yahusha Massaiah .

My apology for my misspelled words . I was rushing to post this comment and didn't know how to edit it. I am sure you got my point and that what matters.

I'm so glad I found this thread - now I don't feel so totally crazy! I am fairly certain it's anxiety-related - even though I don't feel especially anxious at the moment, I am an anxious person in general and can see how any underlying issues I have may have caused this. When I go to sleep it totally goes away (I haven't ever woken up gasping for breath!) and so it's gotta by psychological, right? And when I am doing any activity that means I have to focus and not think about breathing, then I forget about this completely. It's only when I think for a split second 'hey, I haven't done that breathing thing for a while!) then BAM it's back, and usually for the rest of the day.

I absolutely LOVED will71922's response, I have been sat at my desk and trying to incorporate these breathing techniques and I think they could potentially help. One thing - if I do a few minutes of Buteyeko, do i have permission to then take a big deep breath? Or do I have to push though and ignore the urge...

Anyone who is still checking this thread, then please do get in touch. It's so nice knowing you aren't alone in your weird breathing thingy!

I know the feeling!! My question.... have you found a way to stop or forget?

It is seriously driving me insane. I am doing it 2 or 3 times every minute at the moment.

I recently discovered the root casue of the problem after more than 10  years + of suffering from shortness of breath. So I'd like to share my expereince here. Last year, I discoverd this thread and tried the breating method but it didn't help a lot. I then decided to visit a pulmonologist to find out the problem and  the no problem was discoverd. My lung actually functions very well. So my case was closed at the pulmonologist office after 3 times of visits.

I don't know if its help from the God or what but I solved the problem from learning piano. I knew that the only reason that could casue the shortness of breath was due to anxiety. But I refused to accept the reason becasue I thought I was very mentally healthy. However, at the end, it's truely due to anxiety. You might think its non sense as I was. I am not accepting it becasue my piano teacher said my posture was too tense. My shourder was rise up, my arms were all tense up and stiff as iron stick. If your muscle is also tense all the time, then you are acting anxious. As soon as I realized that, my shortness of breath went away immediately. It really works for me immediately. So be relax!

Long story short. Relax your muscule. Lower your shoulder. Relax your arm, your back, your neck, and even your fingers. Thats all you need to do. Hope you guys will find it useful.

Hi guys so .. when i first started elementary school every day on the school bus i would have a stomach ake and trouble taking deep breaths ..I learned how to manage as I became older…. I started having panic attack when I was 17… made some bad choices in my life…. Got on anxiety medication and learned how to manage it further… I was put on other medication (depression and anxiety) because of back pain…… since I switched I have had trouble gaining that feeling of a deep clean breath … I am under a lot of stress and minor addiction (trying to manage feelings)…. I know if I want to get better its all physiological …. I need to remove stress I need to change everything about my life style

I know this can be caused by lots of different things, but I have finally found something that has cured it for me!

I had this exact same thing for years on and off. Then recently, I had it constantly. Doctor had no idea what it was and said it was stress. It was worse after eating so I assumed it was a digestive issue/heartburn. After months and months of trying things, what ended up working was the "Cat Vomit" abdominal exercise. You can find it by searching google/youtube. You basically get on all fours, exhale completely, then suck your stomach/diaphragm up towards the sky and hold for 10 seconds or so for roughly 10 reps.

I think the reason it works is that it stretches/strengthens your diaphragm muscle. I now do this exercise once every few days (but i've gone weeks now without doing it without the breathing symptoms coming back). Can't tell you what a relief it has been to finally rid myself of it, as it consumed me for a long time. It's possible my breathing always got worse after eating because the gas created by the food put pressure on my already sensitive/weakened diaphragm.

This is all my speculation obviously, but i'm convinced there was something going on with my diaphragm.

Hopefully this helps you as well!

Note - when i'm doing them, i do focus on pulling my diaphragm up (located in the center of your chest just below your rib cage) as opposed to my abs.

Also, i mentioned that you "suck" your diaphragm upwards, however, "pulling" them up is more accurate. You should have exhaled completely anyway so there should be no air in your lungs.

YAY!!! Finally!! Someone that knows whats wrong with me!!! It is driving me absolutely insane at the moment. I am trying to ignore it but the harder i try, the more i feel like i need that "relief".

It is worse at the moment than its ever been. And its been happening for a few years now.

I don't know how to make my brain forget and stop doing it!!!!

Hey Nikki - this issue was fixed for me when I started strengthening my diaphragm with the "Cat Vomit" ab exercise (Google it). Definitely worth a try. (focus on pulling in the diaphragm, just below your rib cage as opposed to the abs)
