Excruciating leg and knee pain!

Hello All! my inquiry is regarding awful leg and knee pain. debilitating!

i have had a multitude of tests......my gp suggested fibro....i wonder if it has to do with menopause. i am 54 and this pain started literally out of nowhere in the fall of 2022. it has not let up....natural childbirth was less painful.

any wisdom out there? many thanks

    Hi Ro,

sorry to hear you are experiencing pain. Joint and muscle pain can be a symptom of perimenopause/menopause due to lower levels of estrogen. I suffer on and off with back and knee pain. Fibro can cause muscle pain but is generally more widespread I think (not an expert on this). Does the pain fluctuate at all or is it constant? Do you take anything to help the pain? I've seen lots of ladies saying how they take magnesium for muscle pain, I don't take this myself but may be something to have a read about to see if this would be something that could help you. Hoping you find some relief soon,

Hi Ro. I am having the same issue right now. My knee pain started Oct 2022. Out of nowhere my left knee went out on me. I couldn't bend it, pain in the knee cap, i was in escrutioating pain. Getting up from a chair was painful. Then my right knee started, not as bad as the left. I had stiffness behind the knee. I am also getting pain sometimes that goes down from my knee to my ankles. I have been in physo therapy since Oct and yes it has gotten a lot better but I have my days. I cannot workout as I use to. This has been a living nightmare for me. I am glad you posted because I need to know that I am not alone. My only concern is will this go away. I had x rays done and nothing is showing up. I am scheduled for a MRI next month but i think it comes down to not having estrogen which is the glue that helps with joints. I am at my wits end with this crap. Thinking on going on Bio Identical hormones because i cannot take this anymore. Hoping for your recovery .God bless

OMG! My legs, knee and feet hurt and you're right, childbirth was less painful. I've had xrays, exams, test and all clear. I thought it was arthritis in my knee but xray shows nothing. I am 56 and I get up in the am as if I'm 80 years old. My husband on the other hand hops up like he's 30. 😦 Once I get going it gets better but if I sit, it's right back to aching again. My wonderful friend whom I met here 4 years ago swears it's low estrogen. I'm so tired of aching like this. It came on me strong this year and it's horrible. All I can do is pray, take supplements and pray again. 😦 I pray you feel better.

Has anyone tried horse chestnut? That's supposed to help with vein issues which can also be the cause of the pain. Estrogen is connected to circulation problems 😦

It's miserable because you know you're supposed to keep active and get regular exercise and yet the pain and tiredness just put you off -- quite soul destroying.
