I found after my last op the best place to exercise was in the baths. Not too deeo water. The water's buoyancy  gives your joints a bit less work to do so you can exercise freely without putting too much weight on the hip.

Sorry should have added what sort of exercises. Just walk across the baths in the shallow end, that has enough resistance to strengthen thighs. Sit in the corner of the baths and hold the edges with your arms. Then "cycle" with your legs' One I use a lot is with a "woggle" under my foot to give a bit of resistance. Then gently pump up and down in the water as if you were pumping a car tyre. This strengthens those muscles in your buttocks. The key word in all this is GENTLY

    Hello TLG,

Walking was the advice given to me, and the idea here of walking in water initially is excellent.

I like doing crouching in water, as unable to do so in air.

I like the array of exercises as suggested here and by physios.....plus REST

    Good luck!

For me walking was the answer. But make sure the walking is up straight, heel then toe. Was difficult at first but gave me fast results.

And the most important exercise is to exercise patience.
