55 years old and have PMR for 2 years , first flare responded really well and got down to 1 MG of prednisolone before having to return to 5mg as maintenance.however it came back again couple of months ago and am now back on maintenance dose. Was very active prior to this and am a keen runner whilst I have come to terms with no more marathons would like to keep running , does anyone have tips on how to manage.

I count my blessings in that even with PMR I now am able to run about 2 to 3 miles a few times a week, alternating with riding the recline bike for 45 minutes (Lifecycle) on level 13. I can lift lighter weights but have to keep it light and minimal. I wasn't able to run until after torn knee meniscus surgery, which gave me back my ability to run. The PMR has cut down my miles but I am just so grateful to still be able to run at age 65 with active PMR and taking 6.5 mg pred. I agree with others, just listen to your body and don't push it too hard, right?

I definitely recognized the head sweats since my PMR, what has never been a problem during menopause.

I am in my second year of PMR and at 5mg of pred. Before PMR I was very active, mostly for health reason, but was doing occasional triathlon, olympic distance. PMR stopped all that, for a while. Slowly first just walking and stretching, then adding bike rides then swimming. I am now at the point that I can bike at the same level as before PMR (complete recovery). I am able to swim an hour free style, at the pace slightly slower then before PMR.
However, I find running much harder. I have tried and had injury several months ago. It seems that PMR/prednisone soften my tendons and they get inflamed very easily, especially in foot and knee area. I am currently "benched" and doing some running in the pool.
Tracey, everyone is different. Just be very careful when restarting any exercise, especially if you were off for longer period of time. Good luck.

Why do doctors not listen, went back on Friday as still struggling and he tells me I came down in dosage too quick this time, but I did exactly what he told me to do 15 for 2 weeks 10 for 2 and then back on maintenance 5. So am now back at 15 to kick-start it, also had acupuncture and a deep tissue massage such seems to have helped with the stiffness , managed a run yesterday without too much pain.😁

Because they think they know it all and don't like to admit that either they don't or they got it wrong...
You know you have a good doctor when they admit they haven't a clue or are prepared to google medical references to find an answer!
