Just putting a question out to all......

As a Fibromyalgia sufferer - What is the best form of exercise to stay healthy and to control one self from putting on excess weight as lack of exercise due to pains  ?

I find the best form of exercise Is walking.  You can go gently if you're having a bad day or speed thins up when you have the energy.  It's also great to get some fresh air

      Hi Becky

I walk to work everyday, but I experience alot of pain in my neck and shoulders area. I have a 30 min walk to and from work at a steady pace that is right for me. My kids say I walk fast but I don't seem to think so....

I agree it's one of the best form of exercise but I seem to be gaining weight as I stop my wii fit exercise that I used to do. Gave it up about 8 months ago as it aggrevated my pains. The weight loss good at the time but I feel as I have to find an alternative.

Thanks Becky for your response. biggrin

I love swimming or Aqua aerobics! Not too strenuous and you can keep cool while doing it too. I usually slowly swim lengths for about an hour and I've managed to lose some weight!

    Good luck

Even being in the pool just kicking your legs or doing gentle exercise is a good start and can build confidence too! 😊

I have begun yoga for beginners   Its mainly stretching and bending but its low energy unless youre having a good day and can do more   Its the only time that I ever been thankful that my daughter bought a Wii Fit board   Good luck x

I did yoga for a year and found it ever so therapeutic. But had to give up as the pains were getting severe and found it uncomfortable. I do every now and then practice the breathing and certain moves when my body allows it.

I suppose yoga and other light form of excercises are doable in small doses.

      Thanks biggrin

always stick to low impact i found tai chi great and you can do at home even on a bad day.Swimming, waking and static cycling are good on better days.

stick to bite size exercise and increase when you feel ok afterwards most of the time . havent craked the weight one that well gardening seems to burn most
