Exercise induced reflux was treated as a heart patient before finding it was reflux. Anyone else?

Anyone else out there? Was treated as a heart patient for 3,5 years as my only symptom was chest pain on exercise, I would also get chest tightness. It was a cardiologist who said I'm sure all your pain is not cardiac and you should go for a 24hr pH monitoring test. It came back to show chronic reflux and reflux on exercise. I was put on 80mg of pantoprazole as 20 or 40 did not make any difference. When I was on such a high doze all my symptoms reduced and then doing diaphramatic breathing it reduced it even further to only a slight discomfort and not all the time as it used to be. What a miracle. It was however a real surprise, even to myself that all my symptoms were reflux, I really did have classic heart symptoms. My question to all of you is do you get chest pain on exercise that is reflux. What sets it off? How often do you get it? I would get it just walking around the house when it was really bad. I would get off the train and by the time I got to the end of the platform I'd have chest pain, I would have to stop walking on longer walks as the chest pain would get really bad. would love to hear from you

Hello!
I know exactly what you are talking about! Except my situation is kind of the flip side of yours. I was diagnosed with acid reflux back in 2001 but it was not until a few months ago that i started having chest pain and like a weird sensation in my arms while exercising... it happened when i went hiking on this trail that is a bit elevated and of course my first thought was that it felt heart related, maybe angina from what I had read, which of course scared me a lot. I started noticing that the pain would happen mostly if I took the hike after eating, even if it was an hour before. About three days ago I was on a walk that was pretty flat and suddenly I started feeling the chest pain again. Today it happened again but more intense than ever before even though I had not eaten in a while. So of course my first thought is that it might be my heart. Or, could it be because I have been having a bad acid reflux flare up this week? When I get them eating ANYTHING makes me feel like I cant breathe, my chest and back hurt, I get bloated, my IBS also kicks in... yeah its not fun. So I am hoping my chest pain is NOT due to heart problems, just to my old, yet very bothersome acid reflux problem.

Yeah, I was given a bunch of heart tests 20 years ago when I got treated for GERD. It must have taken about 3 months to rule out the heart issues. They still told me I had an enlarged heart at one point, because I was fairly active and not a little guy. I'm on 40 mg of Pantoprazole twice a day. I hadn't been taking the second dose, as I suffer from problems absorbing nutrients, particularly iron. At least that's the theory, as they can't find any bleeding. I found Dexilant worked best, but my wallet did not like it. Nothing has cured my gastritis though, which might explain some of the symptoms below.
Like drcreativa I too have issues breathing after I eat. This started about four years and I still don't have any answers. I've been to two respirologists and each has their own theory and neither agrees with the other. They did find lung scarring and an elevated diaphragm , neither of which they can explain. Although I'm more inclined to think it's a GI issue, which I've had even less success with. I recently got diagnosed over the phone with IBS, after at least 10 years of issues, 3 colonoscopies and numerous endoscopies. I also have Diverticulosis and have had antibiotics twice with no improvement.
I started taking Pepto twice a day to help with my motility issues, then after getting diagnosed with IBS I added IBGard, no miracles so far. I'm also going to try a better probiotic, as I don't think the gummies are doing it for me. LOL. But there are so many brands! Curiously, after I started reading about IBS, I noticed that Pepto was one of the recommended treatments. I'm going to find myself a Witch Doctor.
Sorry to hijack your thread Bella, I wanted to address drcreativa's issues too.
