experience of steroid injection for Morton's Neuroma

Hi all, another chapter in the story of my broken foot I am afraid!  5th metatarsal bone now healing (only took 8 months to decide to!) and hopefully will continue to do so.  HOWEVER..have developed a Morton's Neuroma in the web space near it (between 3rd and 4th toes)  Loads of pain, as those of you sufferring will know, far worse than broken bone.  Pain started in September and have been back and forth to hospital, orthotics altered etc

Saw a podriatic consultant (very highly thought of and experienced one) and after scanning foot (nueuroma larger than 5mm) he has given me a steroid injection. (in the web space after scanning it with portable scanner) This was the day before yesterday.  Foot still v painful, in fact more so if anything, and feels puffy.  Did that bad thing of googling it and scared myself to death...what have I done?!!  Am a bit wary as I beleive, and have been told as much by three separate health professionals, that the inflamation has been caused by the incorrect loading of my foot due to the fact my bone remained displaced and broken for so long.  (crutches, no boot or anything for the first 3-4 months then just left.  Operation was planned for the June but then it started to fill so op cancelled)

Anyone any experience of steroid injection in foot...am hoping pain will go as at the moment feel like I did when I first injured foot, 13 months ago!  Am due to have 3 injections in total, 6 weeks apart.

On the plus side...bone is/was healing!

Hi debbie82172, hope the surgery goes well at least, fingers crossed and good luck.   Pain has decreased a bit, wish they could just give me a foot transplant!  Was concerned as have had more pain this time, almost back to square one when broke my foot, which is v disheartening.  Hopefully will get better over next few days....

Hope your feeling better soon. Pain has decreased today and yesterdsy . After paying hundreds of pounds for various insoles, one pair even advised by a previous consultant costing£120, which were totally wrongcaccording to the consultant i see now. I have putthe small square kitchen sponges in my trainers and cant believe the relief they ve brought to my feet. Lol. I ll try anything when i m in pain. Anyway they ve worked for me so i ll be buying them in bulk now from the pound shop .

Hello. Welk where to start. I have had 6 foot surgeries. I had 2 neuromas reomved in the 80s and i wont lie it was very painful. I had bunion surgery 2 times the first one didnt work i also had a crossover toe fixed and a screw was placed but then had to be removed due to osteopenia. Also around this i was dealing with another neuroma for which i had steroid injections yhat did not work. I had a new thing where they di alcohol injections for 7 weeks. It worked but started getting symptoms again did injections and was fine till a few months ago i dont have muchbpain but i have tingling in my toe with standing and walking

I cannot have anymore steroid injections so i am doing the alcohol injections again.phew. i hope you have good luck. Foot issues really are a pain.
