Experience turmeric curcumin?

All the stuff I read about turmeric curcumin indicates that it is good for anything that ails you, especially anything with inflammation. But the sites with more details say that it is not very bioavailable.

If you've tried this for PMR, was there positive result? Has anyone learned of a more bioavailable form?

I will visit the health store and ask them the benefits of using turmeric

Apparently the supplements are not as effective as taking fresh or powdered turmeric according to a recent research study I heard about on radio.

Apparently adding a small amount of black pepper (for the piperine) increases bioavailability exponentially.  However it's worth reading up on turmeric/curcumin because there are some contraindications for some, a few drug interactions, e.g. blood thinners, and some people have side effects.

philoso4, about 10 months ago I had a bad flare, had to go up 30 mg to get relief. I started a regiment of turmeric with black pepper three times a day. I have been PMR pain free for about nine months and dosage is currently 9 mg tapering to 8. How much of this is do to the turmeric I do not know, but I am not about stopping to turmeric to find out. Thinking positive and smiling.

Try it I think it helps also. Good luck on your journey. 🙂

I was told, "Re the turmeric, you want to find a supplement in the UK that contains a minimum of 400mg of Curcuminoid, which is the active ingredient in turmeric. It's the curcuminoids that are known for the anti-inflammatory properties,"  by a friend who had cancer an dis very into supplements, natural remedies, etc...

Beware of using turmeric supplements - check with a pharmacist about possible interactions with other medication.

Some people find they get gastric upsets with the high dose supplements but using it in cooking is fine. And adding piperine (black pepper) improves bioavailability (approx 100 parts turmeric, 1 part pepper).

I followed GB dr/medical journalist Michael Mosely's advice to take turmeric with fat and black pepper to increase efficacy in either turmeric lasse (with mango) or turmeric latte.

    havent noticed any improvement
