Experience w/ Threadworms - Pleaaase help!

Hi all,

I diagnosed myself with threadworms a couple weeks ago now. I was never extremely itchy, I sleep just fine etc. But I would feel a bit of wiggling around the anus once to twice a day. I looked at my stool and I could see strings of "something" and this was a theme throughout many bowel movements...Although, they were not white nor moving (I don't think)

I took Pyrantel Pamoate last Tuesday and I also went to the doctor (NOT helpful at all) and she perscribed me with Vermox.

I had a cleaning company come in and clean my whole condo top to bottom. I wash my sheets every 1-2 days. Undies/pants in boiling water everyday.

It has really taken a mental toll on me. I am constantly thinking of worms and the fear that there may be an egg floating about waiting for me to ingest it. My hands are literally raw from all the hand washing.

I guess I just wanted some insight. I still see these "string things" in my bowel movement that when assesed closely do look like worms but more transparent.. and they are not moving. So suppose they are dead, how long until I stop seeing these in my bowel movements?

I will definetley repeat both Vermox and Pyrantel Pamoate in the two weeks time for good measure.

I am going away for Christmas and I would like to have some advice as it is really consuming my life at the moment and I don't know how to cope with it.

Any advice helps or stories of own experience.

PS - I have also consumed garlic, apple cider vinegar and pumpkin seeds. Sugar has also been extreeeemley reduced in my diet.

Hi hope your Christmas wasn't blighted by these things and hope they have gone but if you are seeing them in your stools at all that's a good sign.

hi ashley yes i had problem with threadworms for two years after my five year old daughter had them and then passed them in to me. it was horrendous both mentally and physicaly. we had twenty five doses of mebondazole and spent two hundred pounds on an ati parasite course to no avail. eventually i sought out a parasite specialist in great ormaond street and he cured us within a week!! please do not despair you can rid yourself of the worms . he put us on albondazole two hundred miligrams for my daughter and four hundred for myself for three months in case of re auoto infection and we have been worm free since last july. he says that they are becoming imune to the mebondazole so its pointless down going down that road. albondazole is from abroad and kills any type of worm as there are different types of strains and you will need it on prescription do not buy it over the net as you dont know what your getting. let me know if u need anymore info.

Hi Kate - I'm not sure if I still have these or not. Haven't seen one since initial infection in July when they were unmistakeable but still have tickly feelings around my anus. Would this doctor see an adult without a child?

also forgot to say they will come out dead but if your still itching and still passing them then they are not gone. do not be fooled i also tried all the foods and a sugar restricted diet but all this does is alleviate the symptoms. IT DOES NOT KILL THEM.
