Experience with 5 CM dermoid ovary cyst

Hello, I'm curious what type of symptoms you have/had with a dermoid ovary cyst around 5 cm. I keep seeing posts about much larger ones but curious about ones my size. I was diagnosed with it through a vaginal ultrasound after requesting hormone testing. They will be doing surgery in the future. My symptoms are

Pain in pelvic area (comes and goes)

2- 10 day heavy periods a month with spotting in between

Look about 5 months pregnant

Inability to lose weight while breastfeeding/weight gain

Testosterone levels 60

Excessive body hair growth 😔

Mood swings

Always tired/no motivation

Headaches

Sweating

Anybody think these arent normal cyst symptoms? Do you think this could be something else wrong? Any experience or input appreciated!

    Hi

I've got same symptoms as you, living with a larger one n a small one now, docs told me its all combined symptoms. I also have back pains tho.

Have they checked your bloods? Hormone or inflammation?

    Xx

    Hello!

My dermoid cyst is even smaller than yours-only 4cm. However, I do have a lot of the same symptoms-pelvic pain and heavy periods and spotting, in particular. I went for a laparoscopy and hysteroscopy last month. The surgeon thought that he would find endometriosis because of my symptoms but he didn't find any. I had already had my dermoid cyst discovered through an ultrasound scan but he said it was unlikely that was causing the problems and decided during surgery, not to remove it, in the end, much to my frustration! I am going to get a second opinion...!

Hope your issues are resolved soon. It's interesting to hear from someone else who has a smaller sized dermoid. Best of luck!

Oh my gosh how discouraging! They cut you open just to look around and not remove anything?! That's absurd I am so sorry! I hope someone else will help you. Have they tested your hormone levels?

Yes, I know! He said it was because he wasn't sure it could be causing my symptoms, as it's small but that removing it could damage my ovary or cause it to be removed too. I insisted before I went in, that I do not want to have children, so it's not something i would have minded-i just want the heavy bleeding, anemia caused by it and the dreadful pain to stop! He said I might change my mind about children but I am 36, not a teenager! He said if I was 5 years older or the cyst was another cm bigger, he would remove it...! So had to take two weeks off work for recovery after the op and my periods are still causing disruption to my work, which is very frustrating! I've got an appointment next month (the earliest one they had!) with another doctor. I've not had hormone levels tested, so I'll ask about that, thank you! Hope all goes well with you and your experience is more helpful!

Well that's truly terrible! I hope this new doctor is smarter and more helpful. Good luck to you as well!
