Experience with humira?

My doctor wants to put me on humira. I am afraid of the side effects. Does anyone have experience with this drug? Were you ever able to come off if it? Other possible drugs with LESS side effects? Should I get a second opinion? Currently on mesalamine, cort enema, folic acid, vsl probiotic. Thanks in advance for suggestions.

    It's expensive,  make sure your insurance will cover it.             Make sure your doctor knows everything you're taking, including any herbal supplements.

    I went thru this myself.. I did not want to go for Humira. Waited 6 weeks using Prednisone, Asacol, Uceris , Uceris Foam Enema, Turmeric Pills, Integra for Iron and Folic Acid . After 6 weeks it worked. I am doing much better ..

    So my suggession is keep patience and try all other meds  first. If no improvements for 6 to 8 weeks , then consider Humira .. It does have bad side effects.

      Thanks for responding. I will try to wait a while...feeling good, but fear stopping the steroids will put me our of remission. Adding turmeric to regimen today. Thank you, and good health to you...

    Be very, very, very careful stopping steroids.      After I had my operation and colon removal,   my doctor took six months to get me off them.    You have to do it very slowly.
