Experience with IUS and IUD??

Looking for ladies with IUD and IUS experiences. Had an implant for 8 months, but got it removed due to a constant bleeding and disaster mood swings, so now thinking of getting one of the coils.

Is the bleeding constant? Would you say it affected your weight? How long did it take for your fertility to come back? Mirena or Copper?

Thanks!

i have tried both and definitely not for me !! i had the copper coil for 9 months and had very heavy long periods so switched to the mirena and felt horrendous !! my moods where awful it was like constant pmt for 4 months !! it got so bad i didn't want to exist anymore ... i have since had mine removed and feel like me again ... I know so many people who have the mirena and swear by how fantastic it is and for them it is it just didnt suit me ... Plus side no weight gain with either ... Hope you find this helpful but think its one of those things you have to take a chance with ..

I originally had heavy periods, but after the implant they got normal and not painful at all (I used to take painkillers every month), so maybe copper is better for me.. I would rather survive pain, than mood swings - been there with an implant! Thank you for your answer smile

Hi I had the implant for 2 yr's and nothing but trouble constant bleeding for weeks at a time pain headaches everything they ment too last 3 yrs. They took it out early and replaced it because so many people have complained of the same thing and it's believed to be better not too leave it in for that long. Any way second one only lasted a year coz of same thing happening. They tried putting me on mini pill for the last 3 months to see if it settled but I was so thed up told them too take it out. That was last January and by June I was pregnant again. Lil one now 7 weeks. Been sterilised now and would not recommend that too anyone. Hard the marina is pretty good thu.

I've had constant bleeding on the implant too - I was on it for 2 years! The first bit wasn't too bad, but then it just got worse... I went back onto Depo Provera but that screwed with my system too, and I have constant irregular bleeding - daily spotting - which is incredibly annoying and probably isn't very good for me.

I'm getting an IUD (copper) put in in two weeks time. The IUD sounds like good to me because it's non-hormonal. I've read on other forums that it doesn't affect your libido, you get periods once a month (so you know whether you're pregnant or not) and it generally has great protection rates. It is also said to not affect your fertility- i.e. once you get it taken out, you get your naturally fertility back straight away. I don't think it affects weight either because it's non-hormonal. I've been warned to expect heavier periods than usual though - but IMO that's better than constant spotting.

I can let you know how it goes once I get it in if you'd like?
