Experience with sleep problems? Need help.

I've been doing a sleep cure where I only sleep 5 hours every night for the 1st week, 5,5 hours the 2nd, 6 hours the 3rd, 6,5 hours the 4th and finally 7 hours the 5th. I'm at week 2 now, sleeping 5,5 hours at night BUT today I overslept for 4 hours. My doctor's office isn't available on the phone until next week.

Does someone have experience with this method? Do I have to start over again?

Where did you hear about sleep regime? As I have trouble sleeping, I would like to know more about this ?

After trying 8-9 different sleep medications my doctor sent me to a sleep specialist whom suggested this. It's called sleep restriction and apparently it works for 8/10. But it's really hard and takes a lot of willpower to do. You should not be trying this without talking to your doctor, and as you need to be consistent to go to bed and wake up at the exact same time every day, you should be considerable about your daily rutines such as work.

I decided to start over again, and it's really hard. I fall asleep if I sit down to read for more than 10 minutes and I'm just so tired. I'm reconsidering if I should postpone to after my exams, which right now - after waking up just 1 hour ago - sounds like a great plan.
