Experiences with genital warts

Hi everyone, I was recently diagnosed with genital warts about 6 weeks ago. I had three sessions of cryotherapy and then was prescribed Aldara cream to use. The warts are almost gone now.
I just wondered if any of you had past experiences with this type of HPV and were able to offer some positive hope? I was told my both mt sexual health nurses that if no warts return within a certain amount of time then it probably means the virus has been cleared from the body; so I'm keeping an eye out to see if they return after treatment! I was also told that there would be no need to inform future partners (im currently single) about the diagnosis because the virus is so common that the chances are they have already been in contact with it. I guess what I'd just really like to know is if any of you have positive success stories from warts and if they ever returned? I felt really depressed about the diagnosis and just want to know when my body will be normal again and if theres anyone else in the same boat.
Thank you

i was diagnosed in 2017 with only 1 wart .
it went away after my first treatment and then came back 2 weeks later .
in all it took 3 rounds of treatment for it to go away and not come back. each time it would come back it would be smaller and smaller
ive been wart free since january 2018
my doctor told me that if you have no new outbreaks for 2 years it means the virus is texhnically cleared from your system, BUT could technically come back at any time
dont be depressed ! HpV is the most common sti out there ! they say 80% of people will have contact with it in their life time !
if you can get your hands on L-lysine (the vitamin) that will help . it helps you fight off viral infections - warts are viral so it will boost your immune system !
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY dont look for new warts - if you see them or feel them , deal with them then . looking for them will drive you crazy !
and if you need to vent or talk , reach out !

I had one wart on my penis about 11 years ago, treated with liquid Nitrogen. Then had 2 repeat outbreaks of 2-3 warts after a few months. Treated with warticon cream. Since then no further outbreaks, touch wood.

Thanks for replying! how long have you been wart free now? and what info were you giving about passing the virus to future partners? I think thats what most scares me, the chances of passing the virus on

I must have been wart free for almost 10 years now. I dont exactly remember the advice I was given at the time. My fear was always passing them on to a partner. I spent a lot of time examining myself, looking for warts over the first couple of years. As far as I'm aware I havn't passed them on to any one.
My impression is that skin on skin contact with an active wart can pass it on. So be vigilant and get them treated when they are still small.

Thank you so much! It makes me feel much better knowing that given time the virus will eventually suppress itself and is no longer contagious!

I have had HPV for a few years now. Genital warts came and went away, even after cryotherapy (my warts did return 2 weeks after treatment). I'd tried lots of prescription creams and home remedies without gaining the desired results. I even tried the vidarox cream (an HPV treatment made with antiviral nanoparticles and essential oils), it took me a month and warts still recurred. But the good news is that with this cream, my wart recurrences came less often than before. I also filled up with certain vitamins, especially vitamin E, Folic acid and B12 which have been shown to increase the likelihood of clearing the HPV and this does help. Now it's been a long time and I have never seen any wart return.

thank you! so how long have you been wart free now? and have you been with anyone since the diagnosis? I think my worst worry is passing the virus onto someone else! but both sexual health nurses told me there is no need to inform future partners 😕 my warts are so tiny and are nearly cleared now so i just hope and prey they dont come back!

I have been wart free for 5 months. Telling a partner that you have HPV is not a big deal. But you need to pick the right time and this depends on your relationship stage. HPV is contagious so avoid having any kind of sex until you're wart-free. Use condoms during sex.

I hope that i can one day say ive been wart free for so long too! Both sexual health nurses told me there is no need to tell future partners but other people say different so the information is confusing.
