Experiencing ankle pain 7 months after injury

I injured my ankle playing basketball about 7 months ago (September 2018) and ended up fracturing my medial malleolus. I don't exactly remember the time frames but I believe I had a cast on my left foot for at least 6 weeks and then transitioned into the walking boot for at least another 6 weeks as well, so surgery wasn't deemed as an efficient option. This is an injury that was projected to be healed back to normal within 3-4 months to where I can at least run pain free (By around Jan or February). Unfortunately 7 months later here I am with a slightly swollen ankle that is hindered with dull pain centered around the medial malleolus that is provoked mainly by any abrupt lateral movement, jumping, running or extensive weight bearing (Such as in playing basketball and performing leg exercises such as squatting) causing me to be limited in my physical activity. I did physical therapy for around 6-7 weeks and not much improvement came out of it. I got an MRI back in January and all that was detected was swelling in my left ankle along with a sprain for which I was simply given the option to continue physical therapy and or continue the RICE method. Today (4/26/18) I got an X-Ray and the doctor didn't find any abnormalities or complications in the results. I ice my ankle nearly everyday and try to do ankle rehabilitation exercises but at this point I feel like nothing is working, so I am completely lost at this point in what procedure I should take.

Hi. I feel like you weren't ready for running and jumping and all that kind of stuff. It usually take an athlete a year to get total back. Maybe just take it easier. I'm five mos post op. I can walk with no help, but I still need to take 15 min breaks from time to time. Just take it easier.

Where did you have your operation carried out and who’s your consultant

Perhaps consider seeing a sports specialist and keeping icing with a ice-man type thing that circulates cold icy water, elevate and wear ankle guards when doing sports and when not some type of compression sock...good luck!
