Experiencing symptoms of BV but I think it looks like herpes???

I started experiencing itching and discomfort almost 3 weeks ago. I thought it would go away but then a week later it started to get worse and I felt itching sensation and had yellow-white discharge. So I went the Gynovologist and was told that I had a very bad yeast infection. I was prescribed 3 pills over the span of 9 days to counter the infection, and also a creme for a week. I took the pills and stopped using the creme after day 3 because it was causing a lot of burning. However, I did not notice any improvement of the condition. After that week, I went back to the doctor and got checked because my symptoms got severely worse. As in, it started to burn a lot when I peed, I had lots of itching and buring still, and yellow discharge (not cottage). I got swab tests and was examined. Was perscribed antibiotics for a week to treat for BV if it is that. However, I decided to look at my vagina and noticed that I had some blister like bumps near the outside. I was wondering bumps can be caused by BV or a yeast infection? Or if these are herpes blisters. I did also go to a music festival around week 2 while still feeling discomfit and thought maybe I developed blisters from wearing my high waisted jeans.

The only way I could think that I had gotten herpes is from my boyfriend who gets mouth cold sores. We haven't had oral. But he did use a little bit of his saliva to lubericate down there during week 1 of my discomfort. And I do believe he had a cold sore at the time.

    Maria,

I am so sorry to hear about your discomforts. From my two years of experiencing BV, never once have I had a blister/herpe down there. I've experienced heavy watery discharge and at times, it is chunky (maybe I had a yeast injection also) with strong oder. I hardly ever experience any itching or burning with my BV. The oder is what kills me.

Have you talked with you doctor about what your experiencing and what you think it may be? Genital Herpes is caused by a number of things. Most people infected don't experience any symptoms and if  they do, it's flu like symptoms.

Do you have a clump of bumps or just one bump?

I had one bump many years ago and I think it was due to my boyfriend having warts on his hands, spreading it to my labia. I got it burned off and I've never had a problem with it. (of course I am no longer with that guy)

It wouldn't be a bad idea to have your boyfriend screened for STDs.

One more thing, have you gotten check for UTI (urinary tract infection) Those infections, when severe, can cause extreme burning when peeing. What did your doctor test you for when you went?

Sorry, I forget. Make sure you are drinking tons and tons of water. I have hypohydrosis which means I have more sweat glands than normal, so I have to drink more than the average female of my size. That causes me to experience more UTIs when I don't partake enough h2o. ALSO, it helps a tons to clear out infections. But I am drinking tons of water, of course it has to be to your activity level also. I drink close to a gallon of water because of my hypohydrosis and my activity level. BUT if you are dehydrated you will need to hydrate then continue drinking to your body type and activity level.

Also, make sure you are taking probiotics and vitamins. As we grow older we need to take them. As of possibly two months ago, I didn't know this because I've lived a healthy lifestyle so therefore, I thought I don't need extra vitamins, but we do.

      Hope this helps!

Hey honey. I have genital herpes so it sounds like that's what you have. Does he have oral herpes? If he put his mouth on you during an outbreak then its possible he passed it on to you. Its nothing to b alarmed about, trust me. But b sure to go get tested. I don't believe that BV is associated with blisters. Being that I have herpes, I'm here to talk to you if you need someone. I hope its not herpes. Although its not life threatening, it still sucks to have it but its very manageable.
