Exposure to throat gonorrhoea

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hey, so I am a gay man and I had sex last Sunday (4th March) and on Thursday (8th) he texted me saying he had received test results which showed positive for throat gonorrhoea. However, I can not get tested until next Wednesday.

I read online that it is extremely unlikely to spread gonorrhoea through kissing (so does this mean it is also unlikely to spread through rimming?) and therefore the only place I could have contracted it is on my genitals through him giving me oral sex?

Basically, I am wondering if I can do anything sexual before I get my results such as give oral sex or receive protected anal sex? (basically, anything not involving my penis) Or is this too risky or just a s****y thing to do?

To be honest I think I know the answer I just wanted to know people's opinions, particularly anyone with expert knowledge or personal experiences on the matter.?

    Hi Alex,

Was it just unprotected oral sex you had? I would say wait just to be on the safe side although you're probably going to be fine, it's definitely not worth running the risk.

    Hope this helps!

Yes it was but there was no ejaculation involved and also he didn't do it for very long at all. But yes you are right it isn't really worth the risk!

From what I can gather the risk is lower from throat to penis than the other way. So I really wouldn't get too worried about it and the test will be able to put your mind at ease smile

Then after that it's happy banging. Haha. Good luck with it!

Haha thank you! That's reassured me a bit.

Do you know if because his throat was infected would his semen have been infected at all or does it not spread through the body like that?

I don't think so but if you have come into contact with his semen I would definitely say get tested. One would assume if he has it in his throat he probably has had another form of sex with the person who gave it to him. If that makes sense?

Yes thank you! I will be getting tested but have to wait until ten days after exposure as otherwise, it may not show up on the results

      Thank you again smile

You're welcome. I haven't helped too much but I would say if he had just given you a b******b with it your chances aren't too high but it's definitely worth a test. If you get Anal oral and genital tests then you can go back to being worry free smile

      Thank you, you were helpful!

Just found out from the guy that he never got tested in his genitals as at the time he couldnt wee so there’s a chance he could have had it there too rolleyes so I will definitely hold off doing anything until I know for sure.
