External hemorrhoid or something else?

So I figured I may have an external hemorrhoid today as I felt a slight discomfort around my anus today and discovered a bump upon cleaning up the area.

After shinning some light on it and twisting I saw a bump (about pea sized) just away from my anus (does not bleed during bowel movements) that was purple/blackish.

When I googled it the results said it was most likely a thrombosed external hemorrhoid.

So is it most likely that or something else?

Also, are clotted hemorrhoids dangerous, or can it clear up in time?

I am not in any sort of pain while walking/standing/sitting. I just feel it occasionally as a little bit...stiff? It isn't interrupting my daily life at all right now.

They come and go and get bigger over time. I still remember an ex colleague saying she had this problem and at the time I did not know what they were and that wasn't that long ago but then diagnosed with IBS and the rest is history. They are worse with straining but for me when I was diagnosed I seemed to save all my loo trips up for the week so when I did go it was the long sitting time which is not good for you and likely caused this problem for me but always worse after an attack. I would say a definite side effect of IBS. For me it was around 2 years after diagnosis which Is when I noticed what you have. Buy some cream to ease the pain. I have Scheriproct but I think the market leader is Anusol.
