extreme fatigue after gallbladder surgery

Posted , 6 users are following.

So I had my gallbladder out 2 weeks ago. It was a little infected and my liver and pancreas weren't in good shape. I was feeling nausea and pain after surgery but that has improved a little bit, I tried to go to work yesterday but could only last half a day as I was so tired. I fell asleep on the train on the way home and have basically been in bed for 24 hours since with no energy to move or get out. Has anyone else felt this or had this? The fatigue has really only come on after walking a lot on the weekend then trying to go to work.

Hi I had my gallbladder removed on the 27 of October. It will be a week tomorrow. My doctor don't want me picking up anything for 3 weeks. I feel tightness in my middle section. You have to be very careful doing alot. I do get tired easily. I HAD LAPAROSCOPY SURGERY. IT STILL HURTS. MY BEST ADVICE IS TAKE IT SLOWLY.

Really!  You are entitled to feel tired!  You had been through a lot before the surgery, then the surgery.  You know, my dear Dad was, well, a good old country doctor.  I heard him say many times, it takes a year, maybe more, for the body to heal itself after surgery and every one tries to rush.  Go easy on yourself and do what you can to cut some corners and what you must do at work and at home.   It will get better but it's very soon right now.  Best to you for better days, yes, and nights

I think you are trying to do too much too soon.

    Remember you have had surgery.

It take time to get over this.

Take care and keep in touch

Watch yourself, I had mine taken out laparoscopically 5 weeks ago and because I did too much too soon, I am still in a large amount of pain in my abdominal and rib muscles. I wouldn't lift anything for at least 6 weeks or more, it sucks but seriously, every time I do, I spend the whole next week in pain. My doctor says I probably strained something by coughing or lifting or too much activity and have inflammation of the intercostal muscles. Trust me, it's not worth it, don't do it. Anesthesia will tire you out, my surgeon said that the first week I went back to work I would be exhausted so I am sure it is normal. I haven't ever had a surgery before though as I am 28 so this experience to me has been excruciating, I hope when I have kids it will be a walk in the park.

    Hi

Agree with what has been said below and feel doctors dont always get it right.

I had mine in Feb of this year and have been unwell since then Was being sick on way home after being discharged same day 6 hrs later . I was never told not to take it easy and conflicting information did not help. So if your body is telling you it wants to rest you must and be firm with GP to sign you off

I am seeing GI consultant on 20th Nov with  results of Endescope proceedure and hope he will be able to sort it. Take care of yourself x
