Extreme fear of hot weather - heat sensitivity

Posted , 7 users are following.

I have heat sensitivity and have a difficult time going outside in the sun especially on a warm day or even a cool day, because my irrational fear of heat strokes. I have a difficult time getting in cars in the summer because of the warm weather especially when it has been sitting out in the sun -- I get terrible panic attacks. I am also heat sensitive, which puts me at risk for heat exhaustion and heatstroke, but I think I built up this fear that every time I do go out in the warm weather, that it will cause a heatstroke -- which probably is not likely. I work from home and doing grad school online for now. Yet, this phobia and heat sensitivity is ruining my life and summer - I barely see my family and friends and go out because of the heat. I cannot afford therapy right now and I rather not attempt medication -- is there a way to beat this fear calmly and rationally? Are there links? YouTube Videos? Books? Please, anything would help -- I rather fight it without meds due to side effects and long term effects of meds.

I don't know will it help, but I have it too, so you're not alone. Drinking water helps a little.

Hey so I think what you should do is maybe sit outside for a few mins at a time basically conditioning yourself to withstand the heat and make sure you drink lots of water. Maybe that'll help

Keep water with you. keep drinking it. may apply on face intermittently.

increase exposure to sun slowly.. not suddenly.

    wear white /light color clothes.

    keep calm ..

    do meditation

Keep your head covered when you are outside sit under an umbrella cool drinks and plenty of them, you have to slowly expose yourself to the heat to desensitise yourself to the fear of it.
