Extreme pain over a week after cystoscopy!

Hi
I'm a 29 year-old female who had a cystoscopy and biopsy under general anaesthetic 8 days ago for recurrent UTIs. The pictures showed a chronically inflamed bladder and I'm awaiting biopsy results.
This is the second time I've had cystoscopy under general.
Straight after I had the usual burning pain on urinating with blood. This eased up after a couple of days. But a couple of days later the extreme pain started up again. It is so severe in my bladder and urethra during urination and about ten mins after. I've also been getting severe spasms. I've dipped my urine at home and it has leucocytes and blood in it. I got antibiotics in case of infection but they haven't helped and the pain feels slightly different to a uti.
I'm concerned it's been a bit long for this to be normal after a cystoscopy. I have to take codeine and paracetamol and use a hot water bottle to take the edge off. Has anyone else needed a longer recovery to try and put my mind at ease? I feel like the cystoscopy has caused a flare of my cystitis.

I had the same procedure a couple of years ago without anesthesia and there was slight pain and discomfort after but it didn't last long. It might be a good idea to go to the emergency room to get checked out. They can do scans and other tests to find out what is causing the pain. Fingers crossed for you. Let me know what you find out it is. I will keep you in my prayers

Hi Mel,
Did the doc manage to find out why you had pain?
I also had a cystoscopy, retroscope and bladder opening widening done in december 2016 after many uti's. I had pain right after the procedure, then for about a week I had no pain. Then it returned in full force. This for me is more intense than uti's. I have no blood in the urine. No infection at all. Just burning, pain and often feels like my bladder cramps. To such an extend that its a mission to go to places with the family.
Ive been to 2 gynies about 5 weeks apart as I thought I might have had yeast infection from all the antibiotics. Nothing wrong in that department. So Ive been back to my uro twice. He gave me Betmiga which helps a bit with frequency but I still have the pain and burning sensation.
I have never been in pain without infection so starting to wonder if something went wrong in the procedure!? Would love to be without pain!!! Considdering a second opinion with a different uro.
Anybody has some advice for me??

Hi
The bad news is my consultant didn't understand why I had so much pain- he checked to see if he did a deep biopsy which may have caused irritation but it was only a small biopsy. The biopsy consequently came back normal.
The good news is it went away by itself, but only after 3 1/2 weeks! It was a long very painful Christmas period but it did eventually subside so the cause was almost definitely my bladder not liking being poked and prodded. Since the scope I've decided not to go for bladder instillation therapy and have been symptoms free by and large for three months. The scope and urethral dilatation might have had a therapeutic effect for me in terms of preventing UTIs!
Fingers crossed.
