Extreme Pain when urination before period.

Posted , 5 users are following.

Every month before my monthly cycle I get this sharp burning pain when peeing. It seems to last a week or a bit longer. Its enough pain to make you tear up and add pressure. I've talked to doctors about it and they always take a urination sample and say there's no infection. I've had ovarian cysts in the past and have even had one removed. I also have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.

What could this possibly be?

You could check out intersticial cystitus which doesnt show bacteria in samples, though you do usually get frequency with it, and its more all month, so its possible yours is related to a gyny problem with it being before menustration,  Sure someone will advice on gyny probs, cysts, goodl uck

I am not a doctor so this is based on web searches but you could look at endometriosis but you need to get a referral to a specialist probably urologist

For women!!! I had bladder pain for almost 20 years. Because of former bladder and kidney problems (as a child), I was told my bladder pain was due to everything from surgical adhesions to IC. Sex was terribly painful and I suffered for years -- even while going to every specialist available. I kept telling doctors that the only time I was pain-free was during pregnancy, so they chalked that up to hormonal changes -- again still saying that was associated with everything but the real reason. The real reason turned out to be that I have an extreme allergy to Nonoxynol-9. Even the smallest amount on condoms or the gels, or whatever it is on. Exposure once would put me in pain for days and days. Please ladies, if you are having bladder pain, please check if you are being exposed to Nonoxynol-9!

I'm having laparoscopic surgery in the morning to see if I have endometriosis. Hopefully I'll find some answers out.

    Hi Amber,

I have this EXACT problem too. Every month the day before I get my period, it burns when I pee. I know from this happening for years now, that my period will be coming the next day. I looked up interstitial cystitis and think that could be a possibility. But I believe I may have endometrial spots on my ureters causing the burning sensation the day before my period. I too, went to a Urologist about this about 15 years ago. Never an infection. Sure felt like one every time. Did you end up having endometriosis?
