Extreme Perimenopause Weight Gain -- Help!!

Hi,
I started perimenopause a few years ago I think, (now 47) and was told I had super low progesterone but my estrogen was normal "for my age". Tho I am on the progesterone mini pill for bad periods. So a not very educated naturopath gave me natural progesterone which made me gain a HUGE amount of weight in my middle in a few weeks, plus caused a fibroid to grow. Since then I've cut calories (I've always been Paleo), added more walking, and tried intermittent fasting but not only will the weight not budge, but my stomach and breasts are getting bigger! Previously due to my diet I've also been thin, though I could never eat whatever I wanted. The rest of me is slightly overweight now too but it's mainly the middle. I have gone up two pant sizes!!! I know part of the stomach could be my large fibroid which I'm trying to deal with. But that doesn't explain the rest of the weight gain in my chest. I see very old women like 70s all the time that are super thin, so clearly way past menopause. Are they just lucky or starving themselves? Any one have a similar situation and some tips? I want my body back! I feel like I'm walking around in a fat suit!! I look pregnant tho I have no kids and it's clearly too late. 😦 I was thinking of trying some lean bean diet pill. I'm already taking green tea pills. Any advice ladies? Thanks.

Hi Sakura Im just wondering have you been told that the fibroid you have is very large namely because I have a friend who had a huge fibroid last year and had to have it removed she lost so much weight after it was removed . I however had fibroids and polyps removed last September but they were not affecting my weight at all....X

Hi Kal!
Mine has had a growth spurt the last year most likely due to peri and hormonal imbalance. It might be close to 12 cm 😦 It was 11-ish last ultrasound. I am trying to get this procedure called acessa but need to get my insurance to cover it. A doctor does it in LA. It seems less invasive and way less down time than myomectomy. They ablate the fibroid laproscopically and then it supposedly will shrink/absorb. Thanks for letting me know about your friend! Maybe since mine is large then taking care of it will help with weight? I hope my insurance will do the right thing and cover it. Did your friend only lose weight in her stomach or overall? Thanks so much for responding!!!

UGH!!! I don't get it! If you're low in progesterone or estrogen why would taking more make you gain weight! Why can't doctors figure this out?
Has anything worked for you? I'm literally going to fast 3 days in a row (500 calorie fast, 2 smoothies a day) this week. And I think I'm going to try lean bean. I'll let you know if anything works. Keep me posted too if you find something. 😃

I was just going to say the same thing!!! With all the medicine and science why can't they figure it out? Something for balancing hormones and weight loss!! PERFECT!!!

They would be rich too! Lol. You'd think the doctors and pharma companies would be all over that. Or even supplement/natural medicine folks. Sometimes I really wish I became a doctor. Then maybe I could also pay off all my student loans. After I reverse menopause 😃

Well I've been doing 2 days a week. So far not sure it's making a difference. Feel like need to do 3 days straight or something. But someone else posted that a friend lost weight after getting large fibroid removed so wonder if dieting is pointless until I do that? Fingers crossed my insurance covers removal ...

Sakura..Im the complete opposite. I've lost weight and so hard to gain back. My hormones are extremely low ..I hear of women gaining during this time but that hasn't been the case for me.
