Extreme sickness, shakes and sweats. Is this normal on the first day? X

I started taking sertraline yesterday to help my Severe panic attacks and anxiety. I've been up since 1am feeling extremely sick, hot flushes, sweating and shaking. Is it normal to have these side effects so badly and is it worth sticking too? Any advice would be greatly appreciated x

Hi I took sertraline for 9 days I had terrible anxiety. But doctor told me to not take any more as the effects on me were awful. Shaking extremely anxious I was up all night last night thought my head was going to pop. Although it didn't agree with me it's not the same for everyone. I wasn't depressed just anxiety so I am now taking valium for a week just took my first tab tonight and feel so so so much calmer. Take care and good luck

My 11 year old son takes these for his OCD so different from your needs. Our experience in the early days were much calmer but he had dry mouth & headaches. Time after that is up & down but we haven't seen your side effects & he has been on them for 3 was. Still waiting for a drastic change but each time we see a change another night is worse.

We are told to hang on in there as it's supposed to get worse before it's better.

Hope you feel better soon Hollie x x

I was like this too it was not nice at all but I react this way with Ssris. I should settle down if after 2 weeks it doesn't then I'd see the doctor and try a new med. Don't expect any good changes for 6 weeks sad

This is just me but I still have bad crippling anxiety at 150mg it's helped but I'm still very poorly. This is just me and I don't like to say this as I don't want to put anyone off but I wouldn't use prozac or sert for anxiety as there the most stimulating of the ssri drugs. If u don't get results please change don't stick it out too long like I did and now they can't get me off it sad

Hi Hollie. The first few weeks can be rough. I had an upset stomach and more anxiety the first day. Stick with it. It does get better! I am on day 24 and I feel better! It has helped with my panic and anxiety. Have you gotten any better since you posted ?

    Hello Hollie.

I had the same issues with starting up steraline too. It was rough but worth it. I stuck with it and now all the ocd racing thoughts, panic attacks and aniexty are at bay. I enjoy life now. I hope it works for you and smooths out soon. X

Sertraline is hard to start for some. What I did was split my 50mg tab an take half at 9:30am after eating then other half at 9:30pm after eating something. I can't take the whole 50 @ once. To much. Headaches an stomach issues. But go away after couple wks. If you continue to have sideeffects that are getting in way of your life I'd look into different antidepressant. Goodluck!

hi, first few weeks can be aweful but for me it was worth the suffering, try not to think too much into it, these are all common symptoms, some dont get them too bad some do, 6 weeks i felt much better 8 weeks in to them , still have the odd bad day but thats because i think too much into my condition, most days are just great, however it's really you who can decide if i can continue or not, if signs dont improve some what after 2 weeks speak to your doctor, i was at a loss what to do, but i continued and now would not look back, if it helps look up serratonin. it will helkp you understand why you take sertraline and what it does which made me feel assured i needed the drug for my serratonin, which makes you feel better mood happy, i wish you the best on your journey, your not alone

I'm on day 3 of restarting Sertraline from back in March. I stopped 25mg back then due to having upper rt quadrant pain. Thought it was fr the Sertraline. Well it was my gallbladder. Had it out in June. Still having depression, anxiety, anger outbursts, yelling an screaming at every body. So started it up again Wed. 25mg in morn an 25mg at night. Now the diaherra started. Just water!! Took lopramide. An heart pounding. So hopefully I will adjust to it quickly. Also hurting a bit in rt upper quadrate area again.???Anyone have that while taking it?? A year ago it made my liver enzymes go up a little.
