Hi Mary, I'm 3 weeks post op and exactly the same. Mind you I'm sure mine is down to not sleepin well at night due to having to sleep on my back. Therefore tired all day, roll on week 6. Also it is a big operation so your body needs to get over it. Xx

I am slightly older than you and I normally worked 12 -14 hour days but aftr my op I followed orders and stayed in bed till 8am and then did not try and push myself. My office is at home and if I felt like a rest I would have alie down. Thew consultant pointed out that whichever way you look at it, you have had major surgery so just go with the flow and recover slowly

Yes Mary, this is completely normal judging by the forum which i have been following since my op in Oct.  I thought  i didn't sleep because of the pain and being so uncomfortable in bed at night, but even after i started sleeping through i was still tired in the afternoons and even now i am much more tired than i was before the op.  I am 67 and was very fit and well before the op but it is taking me a long time to get back to my old self. It's a big op and if your body is tired then just rest, it really does get better.

Yes, completely normal. You just had a major traumatic operation. I was having a nap after lunch. Be very kind and indulgent to yourself.

    Hi Mary

I'm 64 and nearly 3 weeks post op and although I feel better every day I still get extremely tired. I have found its best just to listen to your body, take your meds regularly, do your exercises and rest when you need to. I still go to bed for a couple of hours every afternoon and find that really helps me. We are all different and when you think what your body has gone through its no wonder you feel like this after just two weeks.

Take care of yourself you will soon be feeling so much better .

Hi, I am 48 and had my HRP 3 week ago. Hip is doing fine, but very tired and sometimes light headed indeed. I still nap after exercise for about 1.5 hrs. It will take time I suppose.

Thanks . I get light headed as well but compared to some on this forum I am good .

    Hi Mary,

Sorry you have had to go thru this. It is exhausting for many reasons.

Major surgery takes a lot out of you. My doc said to take Vitamin supplements and drink protien shakes, because it take 2200 calories a day for the body to use in order to heel.

Medications, exercise is tirng & loss of sleep can take a toll on feeling tired.

I know that with time you will improve and feel more like yourself soon.

You will continue to get better one day at a time. Take car Mary your bones need time to heel and muscles and tendons all will work out thru exercise.

i was the same way at first. Get as much sleep day & night. It also helps with the heeling process.

    Kind Regards

    3 time THR

I feel such an idiot - 4 days post op thr and totally wiped out!! All the emphasis has been on exercise, walking and pain relief - no one said take it easy so I have been trying to lead a normal life. I could cry I feel so tired - haven wondered how I'm supposed to manage not sitting for more than 30 minutes and getting a stiff joint! I'm 64 and obviously lost brain cells in the

    Process.

Chill out and get some rest - being tired out won't help your recovery. Take it easy for a week or so and build back up to normal life slowly 🛌
