Extremely itchy nipples

I'm 21, not pregnant (never have been nor breastfed) and both my nipples have been extremely itchy for many months now! it's not persistent all times of day but at certain times every day, mainly at night or after showering, they are so itchy and i cant help but scratch them which often causes a bit of dryness/cracked skin but apart from that no rash/abnormalities as far as i can see and no pain other than if i over-scratch them and crack the skin a little. it's just my actually nipples and not so much the actual breast or even the areola. i have no idea what it could be, i've googled many times and nothing that comes up seems to be what is causing it for me as the skin is not scaly or coming out as a rash, and i can't see how i am reacting badly to a shower gel or cleansing product as this has been persistent for maybe up to a year and i haven't made any significant changes to what i use to wash my body. i do go to the gym/exercise but i wear proper sports bras and don't feel like i am experiencing any discomfort or irritation while working out. anyone else experienced this as there seems to be nothing online which matches my situation?

Do your nipples rub on your sports bra? Especially if its a man made material, this can cause itching. Some things to try

1] Buy a 1% hydrocortisone cream and work into the affected area before you sleep. Dont use for more than 2 weeks.

2] buy some anti fungal Canesten cream containing Clotrimazole. You may have a fungal infection. Dont use for more than 2 weeks.

If neither of these have any effect then try to see your doctor when the Covid crisis is over.
