Extremely poor memory and confusion at 33, getting worse.

I'm at my wit's end.... literally.

I've always had a pretty bad memory. But now I think it is getting really bad.

I can't remember things that happened and it's starting to freak me out. Today's Wednesday. I know what I did last Wednesday because I've started rehearsing the past a bit in my mind to try to strengthen my memory a bit. But I don't REMEMBER it. Similarly I know where I went on Friday, but it's almost like it's an artificial memory. It's like I wrote it down somewhere and am reading it back.

Social relationships and career path have been almost non-existent for years for me now, and I just always seemed to hold onto hope that things would get better. That I'd eventually figure it out. But it's not getting better, it's getting worse.

Most TV shows are made for mass consumption so everyone normal can follow them right? I'm even getting confused, can't recognize characters, and something can happen sometimes and it doesn't seem to register properly. It's not just shows spanning years anymore, I'm talking about daily tv shows like soap operas, that I used to watch without a bother when I was 11 or 12 years old, it's like I have to concentrate on them now. I also can't recognize people I definitely should be able to.

My conversation ability is utter s**t now. I can hardly string together a coherent sentence. I think I have some kind of aphasia also. If you ask what were we talking about after the conversation, unless it stuck out for me it'll be gone in a flash. Also I can hear this lack of quality in my voice, it's a bit like how mentally disabled people or sometimes ones with traumatic brain injury talk.

Someone asked me a basic question today about something I had been working on a lot recently and for a few seconds I couldn't think of the answer. It felt like there was just a total blank where the memory should have been, and it was very scary.

I have an appointment with a doctor but I'm sure blood tests are going to come back normal as they generally do.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Hope your appt. is with a neurologist.

Have you had an MRI or Cat Scan?

It's with a general physician, I will ask him for a referral with a neurologist. I have not had imaging on this issue.

Thank you for your kind words. I hope so.
