Eye pain

Hi all, just wandering if anyone has experienced any pain behind their eye ? It feels like a dull ache in my eye socket and a bit of a headache forming x not sure if this is peri symptoms or something else. I've been to the GP who said (unhelpfully ) that there is nothing behind the eye in between the socket and eye ball !!!! I've had my eyes checked and they have improved. Any ideas ladies ??

Could just be eye strain ...sometimes the muscle can ache if you been reading or watching too much tv. Also eye strain through using mobile over long periods of time.

Yes I have that on occasion, but like Trevis said it could be eye strain. I sit in front of a computer all day at my job. Sometimes mine is caused by sinus issues.

Hiya yep I've had this over this weekend. My eye has been really sensitive to light too.

Just back from opticians and I have a tiny blister on my cornea which he said was caused by grit or contact lens removal. I now have drops to keep it moist while it heals. Was paranoid but feel relieved now.

    Do I wear contact lenses?

I have had this too. It has happened few times . Usually doesn't last long maybe one day or half of the day . I never had it until all my hormones changed. so I feel like that's what it is. My doctor has told me that hormones can affect your eyes in different ways ...

Hi Stevo. I can relate to this and therefore have a bit of info that I can share with you. I am obviously not a health practitioner and have the info only because of extended reading of articles. Apparently dry irretated eyes are a common problem during peri and M, because the composition of the tears alters as the hormones changes in this time, and will have watery eyes as well. Another symptom is ophthalmopregic migraine, and this type comes on with pain in the eye and sometimes accompanied by vomiting. All of this is caused by flactuations in your hormones. I do hope this gives a bit ease of mind.

It's a migraine of the eye. Sort of weird your gp didn't tell you this. What a quack. It's very common during perimenopause. You'll probably experience other eye issues, that are common during this phase called "silent migraines." Look it up, hope this helps. Also, you should visit your gyne for this type of stuff, since they'll be more likely to know this, if they know you're in the perimenopause phase.

You're probably correct. When I told my ENT I was having sinus headaches, he said there was no such thing, What I was calling 'sinus headaches" are actually atypical migraines.

Sochima this is quite scary. I've been dealing with this since December and have had 2 opitician tests and they say my left eye is fine?? It feels achy inside the socket and enough to distress me or take a pain reliever. When I see my gp and going to ask for a referral to a specialist too. I never knew anythting about "silent migraines.

I haven't started any HRT yet and Im wondering if you or other have and whether your eye pain went away?

      Thanks

Yes I have had this I think it is a sort of migraine of the eye, never experienced it before until meno and I occasionally get the migraine aura too the zig zag light show as I like to call it, all meno related and before this I had really sensitive eyes with the light, dry eyes in the morning and runny eyes too!
