Eye Pain / Headache - could this be connected to my Wisdom Tooth?

I have been to a walk in centre and my doctor so far about pain I have been experiencing in my right eye only and brow / temple area on that side. My eye has been getting bloodshot and I have had a headache on that side for 2 weeks + now as well as slgiht blur in that eye and senstivity to light. I have tried antibacterial drops which have made no difference. I have been referred to an eye doctor who I am seeing on Friday, but I have also thought of the possibility that this might be connected to my upper right wisdom tooth. I have not had any pain in that tooth for quite some time but I do know from my last visit to the dentist that it was coming in horizontally. I have booked to go to the dentist tomorrow to have it looked at to find out if there is any infection going on I dont know about - although I would assume I would feel pain in that tooth but perhaps the pain is deferring to my eye area? What I want to know is could this be the cause of my eye pain / vision problems? There is a lot of conflicting opinion on the internet so would like to get an answer please!! I am hoping the dentist / eye doctor can help solve this for me but my doctor and walk in center provided no help on this matter!!

Hello people, i feel i need to contribute with my experience with wisdom teeth in this discussion and sorry for my miserable english. Ive always lived a happy life since i begun conscious of it. The coming of widom teeth in my life, it was a disaster : headaches not so severe but enough to make me suffer, raynaud syndrome ( blood cutting off from my hands and feet) which has evolved to some anemia like syndrome :pallor, fatigue, hair losing.. and especially my most precious thing : my eyes. Of course back at the time i was not conscious about the fact that at least wisdom teeth may have had a role to play in this drama.. i started seeing double and realising how my field of vision is narrowing slowly.. i had non treated allergy problem so when i started treating it the doubling stoped evolving.. but the narrowing of my field of vision infortunatly not..

Only last year when i felt that it was not longer possible to live with wisdom teeth and the great ache and depression it had caused me that i decided to remove them.. now a year after removing the upper one and of course they were impacted, im still witnessing my field of vision regressing more and more, and it IS DEFINITLY RELATED TO THE UPPER wisdom teeth ( that are removed by now) and to the down one i will remove them soon, because when i rise my eyes high to the sky at the superior limit i can feel the pain in wisdom teeth place and in the temporal region. I really want yo share my experience with you and see why this is not publically known in modern medicine, because it seems that medicak ( especially dental care physicians are unaware of it ) or it is only me ? I felt happy for reading this because for the first time in the history of internet that i read someone whi feels the connection between wisdom teeth and the eye sight problem .

Finally i would like to note that my head in comparison to my sibling and friend seems smaller than normal but still within normal parameters, i dont know if this has a role to play in this very sad story of me with wisdom teeth.

My son has had a constant headache in the forehead and blurred/ocular symptoms in both eyes for 40 days. They are calling it migraine but no medications help it. We have done vision testing, Blood work, Ct scan, MRI, ENT, neurologists, and everything checks out. 2 days ago I thought to have his wisdom teeth x-rayed since he is almost 18 and all 4 are impacted. The dentist is saying it is most likely not related to the headache and vision disturbance but I believe it is possible. We are also checking the spine as I have read that  70% of migraines are caused by spinal misalignment(esp. in the neck) but the doctors also poo poo this idea, yet they have given us NO answers after thousands of dollars of tests. It seems they just want us to accept that it is a sudden migraine that will never go away without finding the cause and be content with a disabling condition and medications which have sad side affects as well. We are anxiously awaiting the wisdom teeth to come out to see if there is any difference. Do not give up. Be your own advocate. You are in your body and often have instinct about connections that may not be common. Each field tends to stay in their own box and one must look at the whole picture at times to find answers.

I'm having alot of the same issues. MRI was done so nothing there. But my wisdom teeth are making everything shift and I believe they are impacted. I will be getting them removed in 2 weeks. I really hope I get rid of all these issues you guys describe.

Hello! I just wanna share the same experience as yours. I am a 2nd year college student and I experienced the same way you did.

When i noticed last summer of May that my upper right wisdom tooth is acting up (not yet growing), I experienced mild flu and headaches. I tend to ignore it since it is bearable. But later in first week of June, my eye doctor noticed that my right eye is bulging and my right pupil is dilated. As weeks gone by, I noticed I can feel severe migraine and eye pressure whenever I'm in the class that almost makes me wanna cry so bad. But one day, I drank flanax and tadaaa my wisdom tooth came out partially impacted. However, after it was errupted and the pain is unoticeable, I suffered worse migraines and eye pain two weeks later. I thought I was dying anytime as I searched the net with possible causes so I went to the doctor afterwards for how many weeks to undergo thyroid tests and MRI right orbit (which is pretty expensive btw!) and both resulted negative. The Opthamologist said that I am normal and it is not a tumor... thus normal. No astigmatism & my eye is ok. I'm thankful yet I cannot accept the results since I am still experiencing this eye pressure and migraines even if antibiotic eyedrops are prescribed. The pain still lingers in my whole right side of the head... makes my immune system in my body weak.

Maybe my tooth was infected or whatsoever. I'm scared since it's my first time to encounter such symptoms that even doctors can't diagnose correctly. I'm scheduling my tooth removal this september and hopefully my eye will be normal and I will not experience migraines like this again. Pray for me pls thank you 😦(

We had all 4 wisdom teeth out and it did not help the headaches and floaters, but I do think it is an avenue worth exploring.

We really had no for sure answers, but 2 homeopaths diagnosed lymes disease although the medical Doctors poo pooed it because it did not show up in blood tests, but if they were lyme literate they would realize it is only in the blood stream right away and then it goes into the neurological system. The medical system gave us lots of bills but no answers and no help. Naturopaths are where we got help. Meridian therapy is helpful . The headaches have improved after using nutrition, cats claw and other homeopathic and chiropractor but it was a slow improvement.....don't give up.

    Hello to everyone,

who has documented their concerns and symptoms in this forum. I am a general practice nurse based in the UK, therefore I tend to understand medical issues well.

I to have recently experienced exactly the same symptoms that you have all documented. intially i had thought it was a right eye vision problem, so went for an eye test straight away, however no major concerns noted. Discussing with my GP colleagues and my own doctor we then concluded it might be a sinus issue. However recently due to the upper right side gum pain i have realised my right upper wisdom tooth has pushed through slightly. Therefore I believe all these issues are linked to this. therefore from my personal experience agree 100% these are all linked.

it has been a few weeks i am hoping it self resolves, but daily tasks have become difficult such as working off my computer screen. I plan to see my dentist and my own GP again very soon, taking note of what you’ve all documented I hope that a specialist or doctor starts to look at these symptoms In harmony to diagnose (if there is even a name to this) patients early, as it can almost make you feel hopeless.

If I am unable to achieve a diagnosis from the doctors or specialist I will endeavour to get some research carried out into this, modern medicine should be able to identify what this is. it was surprising to me to see just how many of you have suffered with the same condition yet no one is able to acknowledge this.

best of luck to you all x

I have spent 10 years to understand what is wrong with me. It started with neck pain, blurred vision and brain fog, at the same time. I took physical therapy every year, it helped for 5 years, but the last 5 years was a disaster. Symtoms started to show up much more frequent day by day, adding jaw pain, facial pain and tension, jaw misalignment, scoliosis, and finally unbearable double vision. During this time:

I have seen 4 eye doctors (2 of which were neuroophtalmologists), 3 physical therapy doctors ,2 dentists, 2 neurologists, 1 psycologist, had multiple back, neck and brain MRIs, , used multiple glasses, took some infinite hours of physical therapy, tried alternative treatments such as acupuncture, had botox applied to my jaw, changed my life style, worked less, slept more, tried pilates, tried yoga. I was giving up, almost, since none explained what was happening to my face, nothing worked.

Until I had my lower left wisdom tooth removed. It was my only wisdom tooth, since I had 3 of them removed some 20 years ago. The day I had it removed, jaw misaligment disappeared. Then I had a surprising decrease in my neck and facial pain, brain fog disappeared, and finally tendency to see double has almost vanished. This all happened in just a couple of days.

Do your own research and do it well. Unfortunately most doctors of medicine are not inclined to diagnose, or at least give a chance to interdisciplinary mechanisms in health problems. Also most of them are inclined to accept you have a psychological problem, when they can not explain the physical mechanism behind your complaints. 10 years.
