Has anyone had ongoing issues of eye redness, constant burning pain and dryness 4 months after cataract surgery with intraocular lenses implantation?

There are a couple of issues that may be a problem. One is that some can suffer from dry eye after cataract surgery. There is a test that your optometrist can do to check for dry eye. The other possibility is infection in the eye. Again an optometrist should be able to detect it with a slit lamp exam.

I do have occasional issues with my eyes, but it is far from burning or constant. I occasionally use HydraSense Advanced for Dry Eyes drops.

Thank you RonAKA. I have asked all four ophthalmologists if there is a test for dry eye and they tell me it isn't accurate and they can tell just by looking? All four have said that I have no eye infection. I've tried Refresh Optive, Systane PF, Optase, Retaine (all the expensive preservative-free drops) but they all make my eyes burn worse. I have tried everything I know to do and all the doctors are just telling me it is dry eye, but it doesn't seem like the pain should be as severe as it is with dry eye. I appreciate your response.

have you tried gel drops? Usually better for more severe dry eye. Also do you suffer from seasonal allergies? This time of year can be tough with everything blooming. Might be source of irritation too. I know I need an allergy pill to help.

Thank you for your response. I use a lubricating ointment several times during the night. All the drops I've tried have made my eyes burn worse and caused more irritation. I have absolutely no seasonal allergies, no sneezing, don't need any allergy medication. This is a mystery to me. Never had any issues before the cataract surgery. After cataract surgery my eyes my eyes are miserable. Wondering if it could be post surgical neuropathic pain or corneal erosions.

Sounds miserable. Hoping it isn't anything more serious. Perhaps a visit yo another specialist who did not do the surgery would be helpful. Never hurts to get a 2nd opinion.
