eyes red and sensitive for almost 2 months now

Around Christmas time I noticed that my eyes were consistently red. I was smoking weed almost every day at the time and stopped and still have not smoked any. For about 5-6 weeks after I used visine original, visine allergy, and visine multi symptom daily. I saw my family doctor 2 weeks ago and he prescribed me an antibiotic eye drop which I used for 7 days. At the end of the 7 days my eyes were worse. I went to the emergency department at my local hospital and the doctor there said he had no treatment option for me so he sent me to an Ophthalmologist the same day. The ophthalmologist assessed and inspected my eyes and told me to stop putting anything in my eyes for 2-3 weeks and that the use of the drops perpetuated my eye redness and sensitivity. I am now on day 11 of not putting anything in my eyes and they are still red and sensitive to light. Is this something where I just need to wait it out? I feel like I should see some improvement after 11 days. At the three week mark - so in 10 more days - I feel like I will need to book an appointment with another Ophthalmologist for a second opinion. Thoughts anyone?

You may be one of the people who is unable to use Visine. Try using Hypromellose eye drops, which you can use as often as you like but if there is no improvement after 1 week of these then go back to an ophthalmologist for a further review. you could have something like iritis. Dont use any screens for longer than a few minutes while you have this.

If your vision suddenly changes and you feel sick then go to Emergency care.
