Face Rash Tingles, Stings, Itches, Burns, with Photos

In the summer of 2019 I started getting a face rash that went from intermittent to now daily. I will wake up with it or it shows up after a shower.

I went to the doctor and they had no idea what it was but put me on a prescription dose of benedryl called Hydroxizine and a oral steroid for 7 days. My body/ Face Immediately responded to the medication. Immediately responded to the medication. The rash started coming more frequently and mainly when I woke up and or took a shower.

I have washed all of my clothes, bedding, pillows , and I have avoided the sun. I stopped wearing make up and I am still at a total loss.

The rashes on my forehead tip of my nose in both cheeks nowhere else on the body not even the chin but I will get a little bit of the rash on both earlobes.

I do have HSV-2and I take Valtrex daily 1000 mg. I have never had an outbreak ever. I am nainly a carrier; I do not think this is herpes on the face.

If you zoom in on the pictures you’ll see little tiny white pimples very very small and if I scratched lightly at one they easily remove but then it’s left with the red spot which looks like the rest of the red spots on my face. The rash is identical every time; the same bad blotches are always in the same spot. Nothing is new. If I pluck my eyebrows I get them there too on the eyelids. I don’t know if this rash is caused by stress or if it’s fungal???

hi. I am not a doctor and can't offer a diagnosis but the description you give and the rash makes me think of lupus and I wonder what your blood tests show? Have you looked at things like ana or other inflammatory markers for possible auto immune issues? Just a thought.

As this only shows up after a shower, I am thinking maybe your shower gel or shampoo could have a preservative in that you are reacting to. Methylisothiazolinone is one of the most common preservatives that is used in shampoos, shower gels, cleaning products, washing up liquid, fabric softener, wipes, make up, skin creams, etc. 10% of the population are allergic to it and it can bring out contact dermatitis and breathing problems. It comes from a family of preservatives called isothiazolinones. Anything with this preservative in is an irritant so check everything which could have this in and get a replacement without this in it. Look for natural and eco products if you can't find anything else, they never have this in. I had a similar problem quite a few years ago from sun cream when I went on holiday and I got this horrible rash all over my body. Every now and then I still get products that have it in that I haven't checked the ingredient list and I get a reaction. It is in things you wouldn't expect like fairy liquid, Fairy fabric softener for sensitive skin, head and shoulders for itchy sensitive scalp! It is a joke!

Rosacea? Try looking online for lots of articles and medications. If it is Rosacea it is very common and you need to find a cream to calm it down, There are lots on the market.
