Face tingling/ numbness

I've been diagnosed with GAD for a few years now and this week the left side of my face is numb, almost like pins and needles. I also have a kidney infection which has caused me to be really ill but I have convinced myself I have MS. Has anyone else experienced a numb face with anxiety or fever??

Many have.  the fever would not be a part of this. Maybe you need to call and ask the Gp?. Anxiety will absolutely flare up as you are ill at this time. I hope you feel better. 18% of MS symptoms coincide with anxiety so this crosses the   minds of many. I have optic nerve pallor and i consiered the same thought but they made me get an MRI because of the eye and thankfully no lesions.

MS is really awful. I have two friends with it. There are severe symptoms involved. A nuero would know if you were in the risk category rather quickly. Maybe heal from the kidney infection first then you can see a nuerologist.

    Hi Sophie!

I've had the same thing in the past, and actually I'm expericing it today again for some reason. Just on my left side. I think it's sometimes related to stress, of course, but also to the tension that is caused by stress. When your tensed up the muscles in your neck become rigid and that can cause nerve issues, which explains the tingles. The more I think about it the worse it seems to feel, but when I'm distracted it doesn't seem to bother me much.

Believe me, I understand your worries. For about an hour today I was in a panic state over this. Because I've been having sinus issues for a month or so and now this face tightness again, I thought maybe I was having a reaction (I have food allergies) or that something bad was about to happen to me. But then I took a nap and even though I still have these feelings and some fear, I know deep down inside that it's not serious.

So try to relax, Sophie. All will be okay. I promise.

?t has happened to me before. Today I have numbness/burning sensation and sharp pains on the left side of my head (on the temple) and sometimes it radiates on my shoulder. I feel like I can't move my face sometimes but I can. This anxiety can cause so many symptoms it's unbelievable! Currently freaking out about a brain tumor. I think if you had MS you'd 100% know.

Also your kidney infection is contributing a lot to your anxiety. Keep us updated!

What you describe in your face is very common with anxiety.. I had it in my head too saw doctor and to air on side of caution sent me for a scan but it was all good and turned out to be anxiety , as the anxiety subsided so did the numbness and tingling .

keep your chin up and hope your infection clears up soon as that must be draining for you x
