Facial Pain Due to Axiety?

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hello! I am having severe pain in my face, more especific burning sensation in my lids and eyebrows (left side) and sharp pain between my eyes. I had a eyelid surgery (cosmetic) in may and the pain started 3 weeks after that. I did all the blood tests and CT, MRI and everything related to the surgery test. It is all clean. I saw a Neuro doctor who said it is anxiety disorder. What bother me the most is the pain. I am doing therapy and meds but the pain doesn't go away. When I have severe pain I get depressed and just cry all day having a panic attack. Has anyone had facial pain because of anxiety? I have this pain 24/7.

I dont get pain in my face, but I can tell you that I got pain in an old injury months after it was healed and pain in other parts of body and most recently intense pressure and numbness in my face and head. All apparently due to anxiety. If I dont have the pressure I have sharp pains or tingling or numbness. There is always something 24/7. So I completely understand. It can feel so lonely, but just know you are not alone. I believe we can get through this as I have gotten through other types of anxiety in the past and really put them behind me. So I know it can be done! Let me know if you find anything that helps and I will do the same.

I have been reluctant to take meds. Only thing I have tried is cbd oil. I dont like the idea of other medications... I have been looking for a therapist and I might try CBT therapy. See if that helps. Its so confusing with the physical stuff isnt it? Im used to it being more just mental stress... I will let you know if I find anything else that helps.. Try to relax if you can today as much as possible smile

Did you get the Surgery done at a private clinic, If so have words with your GP. The problem you MAY have is your GP may refer you back to the clinic who did the procedure.

However I would advise you to chat with your GP and He may be able to suggest a second opinion in the same field of your speciality.

      Hi borderriever !!!

Had surgery on a hospital and went back there 5 times to check if everything was ok. I saw other specialist as well. I saw another 5 ophthalmologist, 5 neurologist, 2 psychiatrist, 2 ENT, 1 Therapist, 2 spiritual therapist...

I didn't stick with only one doctor.. I went to see all of them.

      But thanks anyway...

Pain in the side of the face can be caused by Jaw pain, If you have had  extractions that can cause the jaw to collapse towards the gum and you will get problems on the jaw joint. A visit to the dentist may also be a good idea

One of them said because of the teeth grinding I might be causing too much tension on the muscle of the mouth.,...

Yes grinding teeth will cause problems with the jaw, You will also effect the casp, or crown of your teeth. That will eventually wear down your teeth, and  the tooth pulp becomes more exposed as the enamel covering becomes less. This ill effect the bite caused by a partial collapse of the jaw. as your teeth wears down.

Your dentist can supply you with a denture to help with above and they can also increase the height of your fillings.

Your grinding is common with Anxiety/Stress, sufferers. I used to grind my teeth, most have now been extracted with a denture, this seems to have stopped the pain. Mostly grinding damage is done when sleeping.
