Facial Tightness for 2 months.

Dear all,

I am a 25 years old male. For the past 2 months. I have been experiencing this facial tightness feeling on my face. It is worst on the right side.

I was suffering from a month long heartburn that got me super worried that it might be heart related. Approaching the recovery of my heart burn, I woke up one day feeling super tight on my face. This is driving me insane.

The tightness spreads through my chin, cheek and cheekbones. This drives me utterly mad. The few things that alleviate it or temporarily make it go away are eating and exercising. Drinking alcohol makes it better too. Until the alcohol subsides, the tightness feeling comes back.

I went to the Neuro. He assured me that I had nothing wrong. He said it is anxiety and stress.

How can anxiety and stress make my face feel so tight even after 2 months? I'm slowly going crazy. Need help and opinions thank you.

Hello. I was wondering if you are taking any medications such as an acid reducing medications. Nexium and all of the other acid reducing medications can cause symptoms such as yours.

The more you stress about it the worse it will seem , as you put your focus on it ,it will seem in your mind to get worse . Do things to get your mind off of what you believe and it will relax the muscles ... Also hot compress will relax the muscles . You will be ok

      Hi Vicky,

I'm trying to not think of it but from time to time, my brain consciously tells me to feel the facial tension. 😦(((. Is this really anxiety?

    Hi

I've had a similar issue to you! I have the tightness on the right side of my throat, jaw and neck. I had heartburn issues and have had months of using heartburn meds etc. I have had an mri scan, ultrasound and nasal scope. All found my throat and neck to be normal. So it was put down to muscle tension and heartburn. I have just started to feel a bit better, not 100% though. I have been on Sertraline for 6 weeks and my muscles have relaxed a fair bit. I would think when you drink alcohol you relax and that is why it feels easier? My problems started last August so i really empathise with you when you say its driving you crazy! Massage has also helped me a lot. You can get little rollers that you use with serum on your face to relax, might be worth a try. I have one from Boots.

Out of interest did the heartburn stuff you took give you an upset tummy? All the Nexium and Gaviscon seem to have wrecked my stomach!!

      Hello Emily,

what I took for heartburn was just Antacid and it worked right immediately. didnt had upset tummy. it worked pretty well. it's just the facial tension that is stubborn as heck.

      Thanks for replying Emily!

      Sincerely,

how i have been feeling and its been a year now, i deal with lots of acid reflux and my anxiety makes the symptoms worst, it sounds like stress and anxiety could be trigging symptoms in you, i went to the drs many times and they still cant find the issues, am just dealing with it at the moment, u say it would go away and come back so it does sound like u may have digestive issues as well or the anxiety.

      Dear Sam,

you mean you're feeling the face tightness for a year now?

my heartburn has since been gone after the medications. it's just left with the facial tension that I'm feeling.

dont think I have any digestive issues.

thank you for your reply Sam.

      Regards,
