Facial twitching

Well I posted last week about worrying about motor neurone due to muscle cramps and twitches in my arms and legs - after these settled down - well stopped - I calmed down and decided it was yet again my health anxiety- that was until the day before yesterday when I felt really stressed again , and I have started to have twitches in my right nostril or maybe my cheek , since then it’s been intermittent but the more I stress the more it happens , so I’m worrying again about something awful 😩any one else get facial / muscle twitches?? Sure it’s anxiety but don’t know , also had 3 diet cokes today as a little addicted to it !! Maybe the caffeine doesn’t help too ? Should I worry ? Had eyelid twitches before but never my nose ! Thank you

i used to get facial twitches a lot i think its to do with worrying and anxiety. Dr's always say to me to lay off tea because of the caffeine and it doesn't help with anxiety supposedly makes it worse. so perhaps look into decaf coffee? how much do you have a day? slowly lower it perhaps.

Could be the aspartame in the diet drink . Aspartame is neuro toxic and known to affect the central nervous system. Need to stop the diet drink and see what happens! Are u dieting atm. If so could be due to lack of nutrients. NHS Choices has good sensible diet plans . Take care. x

Hey there smile anxiety can definitely make you think there’s an even bigger serious problem when usually not so please relax

Stress is a big player in all these facial muscle twitches you’ve been experiencing and drinking Diet Coke probably won’t help, in fact, it might make it worse!

Try having some tea, try to spend more time relaxing out in a park somewhere.

Hopefully your twitching and stress reduce and go away smile

This is my life, I had muscle twiches then I had an extra stress next thing now they were in my face after a couple weeks gone then yesterday after a fight with my husband back on the face with the Twiching then buzzing in leg and thumb.

Is it anxiety I'm sure it is but always makes it worse.

Sorry to hear you are suffering too - been googling it ( I know I shouldn’t but I can’t help it )it says they can be caused by stress , anxiety , lack of sleep or caffeine- all of those are probable so I will try and believe it’s that rather than some awful neurological problem and try and calm down , going to try and not focus on them too as I really think the more I read google symptoms the more they develop- pretty weird !! Going to try and cut down on Diet Coke too - although I love it ! And see how it goes over the next week , sure it’s just another stress response, take care

Dietry drinks like diet coke are designed to be addictive. More profits. Have u had your magnesium , vitamin D and vit B12 tested?

I am going through the exact same thing, my twitches are manly my legs but face and arms are not immune! I then convince myself i am clumsy and notice every hand movement which doesnt minipulate the object i am holding the way i want it straight away! And every time i become tongue tied is a major one for me!

But i take a step back and remember the odds of it being ALS/ MND and calm down! I still get twitches now and again but certainly not as frequent! An article that puts my mind at ease is the following

I do all this too - I convince myself my arms are weaker than normal etc , but I have also read lots and the chances of MND etc are so slim I calm myself down , I found an awesome forum today about trwitching and there were pages and pages of people like us ! And the common factor was anxiety , stress , caffeine and poor sleep - I am feeling less stressed today - and guess what ?! Although still got the weird sensation in my nose and other twitches it has been much less than normal , I shall take a look at that article , thank you

If you keep drinking diet coke this in itself is more than enough to cause twitches etc. I suggest that you get tour electrolytes and vitamins tested. Take care.
