Faecal Incontinence

Posted , 13 users are following.

I have had persistent diarrohea since having my gallbladder removed 20 years ago. Now i have developed a weak anal spincter for no known reason it seems and am now having acciendts which are utterly ruining my life and i had to give up a job i loved. Tried medication, diet, sacral nerve stimulator, spincter bulking with no improvement though my anxiety levels are now very high which is not helping the problem at all. I am becoming housebound and desperate. Have not had a holiday for 10 years and my hubby is fed up of waiting.

Hi Susan. I have just found this site/thread. Is it still active?

I have fecal incontinence due to traumatic childbirth 20 years ago.

I would love to connect with you via this thread for mutual support.

    I live in the US.

    Thank you.

      Hi there,

Have not been on the site for several months as busy with my parents home since i lost them last year and they were 300 miles away. My issues started about 15 years ago, it seemed to happen suddenly on holiday, i realised i was about to have an accident. I think it was caused by having a Hysterectomy and the nerve was damaged, the one that controls my sphincter. No one will admit this but i was perfectly fine before my op though i have had five others surgeries years before, 2 C sections and an ectopic pregnancy so i am sure i must have multiple adhesions which i agree can cause problems. It has ruined my life. I only have a life within a few miles of my home and have not been on holiday for ten years as i get so scared. I have had accidents in public places and sadly been called awful names, i have not found people very sympathetic at all. They assume you are a dirty person which i find very upsetting. I go to an aquafit class 3 times a week at my local swimming pool and have made some nice friends. I work as a volunteer at our local Hospice as i was a nurse many years ago. I just want to be able to travel a little further. I have a sacral nerve stimulator for 6 years with no improvement and the battery is due to run out next month anyways. I used to live in Canada in the 1970's.

    Hello Susan

I don't know if u r still active on this site & I do not suffer but I was researching for a friend looking for reviews on the fecal incontinence insert & was heartbroken by ur plight. I read all ur posts & saw no mention of u trying either the incontinence inserts or tampons & wondered why? The info I have found so far seems like something that could get u traveling again. It seems like it works to hold things up before reaching ur paper knickers. I understand it's not a cure but a well liked management tool. Would love to hear ur opinions.

    Thanx, Anime in Arizona
