Failed Cathiter for the 2nd time.

So I had a surgical termination ten days ago and had a coil put in. Since then I have been catheterised twice in hospital, went home for a week with a cathiter in, went back yesterday for a (TWOC) trial without cathtier and failed. I’m back home again with a catheter till Thursday and don’t know what to do. I’m pretty sure it’s not normal after a termination to have urinary problems. I’ve been given antibiotics cause they said I have a UTI, and am so scared that when I go on thursday to try without a cathiter again, I’m not going to be able to go again which is so painful, when your bladders full. Anyone else had any problems like this, or failed a TWOC more than once ?

    Hi Loz

You will need to be very careful when you have a catheter.  You can get infections very easily, as the bacteria travel up the plastic tube and have easy entry into your bladder.  I was catheterised for three months, and had constant infections, including E.coli in my bladder twice.  I thought I was being scupulously clean when washing around the catheter, but still had infections.  I used to bleach my flannel after every wash, but still had infections.

They were never ending.  It didn't stop until I had the catheter removed, and had my bladder cut open.  Now I'm urine incontinent and in nappies and rubber pants.
