Fallen on NWB ankle

Posted , 2 users are following.

I’m 4 weeks post op. My crutch slipped and I used my NWB foot to stop me. I used more my toes if anything. The pain was bad when it happened and I got pins and needles. I hope I’ve done no further damage. It’s now aching across the foot and heel pain. I have fallen a couple of times before and I had an X-ray at my follow up and everything was fine. I’m hoping my bones are further on healing so I’ve no further damage.

Don't worry Frances. All you've done is tighten your muscles, ligaments and tendons in an instant. They're not used to it and that's what's most likely caused you pain and discomfort. If your xrays are good before then this scenario is by far most likely. The thing to do now is ensure you don't keep doing that. I've done it before too and bones are very resilient - in the early stages as they heal the healing area is quite bendy and if it's healed then it's very unlikely to break again (you'd know it by now).

Be careful pal, so as the doctor suggests.
