Falling

How many of you have fallen more than once post THR?  Myself, three times in the first 11 weeks.  Once was in snow and I guess didn’t count.  The next time was on pavement and I went down on my knees.  This time I was walking my bicycle in the dark and tripped.  I held on tight to the bike and again, no pain.  Now today.  I live in small town Spain where I question the rationalization and/or intelligence of road construction workers.  Now, planning bike trails is great in cities but having raised bumpers to separate between car and bike lanes is not so when the bumpers are the same color as the road.  They are who attacked me today.  Again, a well planned fall with little pain.   I wonder if my gait is affected by THR or that I am not just cautious enough.

Had my LTHR 2 years ago and all good. While I have not fallen walking, I was thrown of my Motorcycle last summer due to an idiot on the road. I suffered a concussion, broken nose, broken wrist, 6 broken ribs fractured shoulder,  and a lot of bruised and cuts. However, my hip took a licking and kept on ticking like a Timex Watch.  Even the hospital staff could not believe how the hip did and no after accident problems.

Ouch Steve... that must have been so painful. How amazing that your hip was ok, and quite reassuring  for the rest of us to hear.....

The Harley was totaled. The hip is fine. Only thing that saved my life was my Helmet.

Thank the Lord for helmets. I was in a serious Motor cycle accident before hip surgery and survived due to helmet too. Very grateful, my kids were very young. And that was the beginning of hip OA the from those injuries. I was at a stop sign and rear ended by a car.

And life goes on.....life is a Gift!

Glad you made it Hope. A car pulled right out into my lane. I broke everything but by new and old hip. The way my pants were torn and wallet scraped it’s a miracle the hips made it

Hi Steve...That is true and so scary to have such a close brush with death.Cars just don’t think about motorcycles on the roads there needs to be better education and reminders on roads and more signs that motorcycles, bicycles share the roads too! My surgeon was recently hit by a car on a bycycle, flew over the hood, ended up with a black eye bruised ribs and hip. Summertime is the worst time.

Many years ago I was with a group that helped pass a mandatory helmet laws . Helmets save lives. I’m glad you had your helmet on and sad you were so severely injured . Now your proof how much abuse our metal hip implants can take. You took one for the gipper !
